SMRC & Mini Mania Car Show

Round Two of the Scottish Championship Car Racing organised by the SMRC, has a superb range of racing classes, a super-slick racing format with around 18 races to entertain you during an action-packed afternoon. Battles will already have started across all the grids of Scottish Formula Fords, Legends, Mini Coopers, BMW Compacts, Hot Hatches, Sports & Saloon and Classic Sports & Saloon Championships.

As jam-packed racing programme will keep you enthralled and off track we will have our Mini Show featuring Mini Car Clubs for both old and new Mini variations. If you have a Mini or love this iconic car, then this is an extra special day with show Mini’s and racing Minis! The Knockhill track provides the perfect platform for open, exciting and wheel-to-wheel racing – which is always spectacular across all classes!

Mini Mayhem:

The iconic Mini is nearly 60 years old, and to celebrate one of the most loved icons in British Motoring, Knockhill are running Mini Mayhem.  Joining us will be a gathering of hundreds of Minis from across the country in all shapes and sizes, from stock to ultra-modified and some very special guests to the show.  At lunchtime we will host a Mini Parade where hundreds of Mini's invade the track to form a fitting tribute to the legend.

Lunch time demo by DPE Motorsport - Aiden Moffat and Derek Palmer Junior will showcase their Alf Romeo Giulietta TCR Cars ahead of the TCR UK Series meeting next weekend (12/13 May)

Retain your Adult admission ticket from the weekend, present it at the gate next weekend (either 12th or 13th May) and get access to the TCR UK event for just £10.00

Expanded Formula Ford 1600 grid as some of the competing National Formula Ford Teams arrive early ahead of TCR UK event for some additional racing laps around Knockhill.

Event Info:

Join us from 11am with racing action all day (Qualifying from 8.30am, racing from 11am).

On the day our expert commentary team will provide up to the minute live race commentary, pit-lane scoops and behind the scenes interviews and discussions. And, our interactive text the tower and Twitter commentary will provide an additional platform to engage with the event. The open and accessible paddock allows you to get up close to the same machines, and drivers, you’ll see whizz past on track, at speeds in excess of 120mph.

  • SMRC race days are great value for money with 8 hours or fast and furious action that will keep you and your family/friends and relatives enthralled from start to finish
  • You’ll see 100+ of Scotland’s top racing drivers compete in a wide variety of vehicles and Championships.
  • Spectacular viewing areas are available throughout the venue and multiple corners can be seen from several locations.
  • Knockhill boasts some very special corners and scenery, and viewing around the entire venue is highly recommended.
  • Remember to bring your camera, you’ll be amazed how close you can get to the action – and it’s a perfect way to showcase what you’ve been up to at Knockhill.
  • There’s also a family play park, picnic area and expanded Kids’ Zones at certain events (see event features); perfect for those moments when you need the kids to let off some steam.

  • Spectator car parking areas allow you to watch the action from the comfort of your car when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Who is this event for?

Our SMRC race days are an exciting and action-packed car race day suitable for families of all ages. Members of the public can watch racing classes on one day, with up to 18 races and up to 30 competitors competing on the track at any given time. There’s always plenty of fast-paced entertainment on view, alongside plenty of heart-stopping incidents to talk about on the journey home.

What is the SMRC?

The Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) is Scotland’s premier car racing club and features members from up and down the country, competing on track for Scottish Championship titles. The Club organises and administers a series of events each year, with points scored at each round determining the overall Scottish Champions for each class.

 

Why attend this event?

The SMRC race days feature a full day-long programme of racing with up to 18 races competing on track in one day. The SMRC is made up of seven main Championship classes – with subclasses within each main class. On any given SMRC race day you’ll see competing races for the following Championships:

  • The Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup
  • The Scottish Formula Ford 1600 Championship
  • The Scottish Saloons and Sports Car Championship
  • The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons Championship
  • The Scottish Fiesta & Hot Hatch Championship
  • The Scottish Legends Championship

How to book?

Tickets for all seven SMRC meetings held at Knockhill this year are available via the Knockhill website. Knockhill Racing Circuit administers dispatches and manages all ticket requests for the events. Booking online saves money with all advanced tickets enjoy pre-booking discounts. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone (01383 723337) or purchased at the gate on the day of the event (subject to on the day pricing).

General Gate Opening Times

Gates on Saturday will open at 8am and close at 8pm

Gates on Sunday open at 7.30am

How to get here

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF

If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.

If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

Taxi Drop Offs

The drop off area for taxi's etc. Will be next to the TICKET COLLECTION POINT, this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Pedestrians should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets / display passes.

Public Transport

Unfortunately Knockhill is not on any public transport routes! Please ensure you make alternative arrangements for getting to and from the Circuit.

The Weather

Always a topical subject at Knockhill, quite simply, come prepared for all weathers. We would say the same if the forecast was for blistering sunshine.

General Information

  • Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air all weekend.
  • If you wish to Text the Tower for a shout out, you can do so via 07941 808552
  • All routes to Knockhill will be very busy this weekend. Please give yourself appropriate time to get to the Circuit. There will be delays, but hopefully we can keep these to a minimum with your help and co-operation.
  • No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.
  • The circuit office will be open Sat 8am - 6pm and Sunday 7.30am to 6pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.
  • Trades stands are located at the hairpin and main straight.
  • Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office and a display is at the hairpin trade area.
  • Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Champions Clubhouse and Kinnaird's restaurant.
  • Arrive and Drive Karting will be operating for Kids 8yrs plus and Adults throughout the weekend from just £10, visit the Karting Centre for the timetable and full Info.

Very, Very Important: please drive with due care and observe speed limits when leaving the venue, we don't want your day ruined by receiving a speeding fine.

Drones: Due to CAA safety regulations the flying and use of drones are strictly forbidden at Knockhill Racing Circuit .
