Round 2 of the 2010 MSA Quaife British Rallycross Championship will take the rough with the smooth as it storms on to the purpose-built shale and tarmac circuit at Scotland’s Motor Sport Centre.

Rallycross is the high-octane, thrill-a-minute marriage of touring car racing and rallying that pitches some of the fastest racing cars in world in head-to-head action on tracks that combine both tarmac and gravel surfaces.

In Britain for 2010, the MSA British Rallycross Championship, organised by Lydden Hill Motorsport Club (LHMC) visits highprofile race circuits such as Knockhill, Lydden Hill, Mallory Park and Pembrey as well as The Duivelsbergcircuit in Maasmechelen, Belgium.

The 2010 MSA British Rallycross format is relatively straight forward:

• Each competitor must complete three laps of practice successfully before the practice window closes to be eligible to race.
• Once practice has been completed all competitors are eligible to take part in three timed heats.
• A random grid order ensures all competitors start each heat either at the front, middle or rear.
• The best two times the competitor posts decides on grid slots for the finals.
• Depending on the amount of competitors qualifying will decipher how many finals there will be (e.g ‘C’ final, ‘B’ final and ‘A’ final).
• The winner of the ‘C’ final will be placed on the back row of the ‘B’ final; the winner of the ‘B’ final will be placed on the back row of the ‘A’ final – The winner of the ‘A’ final wins their category!
• The best times posted by Supercar and Supermodified categories are placed into an eight car ‘Superfinal’ which scores points for the overall 2010 MSA British Rallycross Championship.

The series of short sharp races which average three-minutes in length, and which build through the day to the climactic finals where championship points are awarded, is perfect for the 21st century audience. The top race of the day known as the 'Superfinal' see's the top eight fastest cars from the finals battle it out in an awesome display of skill, bravery and power collecting points on the way toward the MSA title of GB1.
