Japanese culture plays a large part in drifting, with the background of the sport stemming from the mountain roads of Japan and their highly tunable cars that are ideally suited. Although drifting is a highly competitive sport, the sense of camaraderie amongst drivers is legendary, it's what makes this motorsport a little different from the rest.
Boyzone star competes in DBC at Knockhill
With a timetable on Saturday 20th August using the awesome SEAT Curves (Duffus Dip) to Scotsman corner section of Knockhill AND AT THE SAME TIME using the tri oval at the hairpin, this years visit by the British Difting Championships is sure to be a cracker! As the semi pro qualify round the tri oval, the big boys will be taking on the WORLD REKNOWNED challenge of the first corner at around 100mph as they speed down the hill sideways.
Leading the way is the Team Japspeed driver, Boyzone band member Shane Lynch, the Irish born music star competing in his familiar V8 engined Nissan. Events Director Stuart Gray said “the BDC is one of my favourite events, the sight, sound and smell of the blue smoke action has to be seen to be believed. Shane is a star in so many ways and my money is on him for an outright victory this year”.
The BDC two day event is also a first with action from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday on the twin track format, then the finals day is Sunday from 8.45am with action all the way through to 5pm. If you are into the craze of drifting, the BDC is bringing over 60 of the top drivers from all over the UK to Knockhill this weekend. Adult admission is £5 on Saturday, £12 on Saunday, or £15 for a weekend ticket.
