The inaugural McRae Rally Challenge – sponsored by Beatson’s Building supplies will take place over the weekend of 16/17 May. This special Rally festival takes place to mark the 20th Anniversary of Colin McRae’s 1995 World Rally Championship win. We are extremely excited about this event and look forward to hosting the biggest single-venue Rally event Knockhill has ever seen. As well as the 30 mile, 10-stage Rally, in association with Coltness Car Club; this event will showcase some of Colin’s most iconic competition cars – including the 1995 Championship winning Subaru.

The McRae Rally Challenge event will showcase two days worth of stunning Rally competition, allied with features for Subaru and Ford Owners’ Clubs, special exhibits, parades, competitions and live demos – creating a true Rally festival.

Saturday – featuring a Subaru and Ford Owners’ Trackday, Ceremonial Start – to launch the McRae Rally Challenge event, five competition stages, Rally Forum (tbc) and more.

Sunday – Concluding 5 stages of the event, interspersed with demos, parades, special interviews, track invasion and of course the final podium for those McRae Rally Challenge winners.

Rally – The 30 mile, 10-stage Rally will take place over two days (five stages each day) - commencing at 2pm on Saturday 16th May and concluding at 4.30pm on Sunday 17th May. A superb entry list, by invitation only, will see 45 top Rally names take on the unique McRae Rally Challenge Circuit – formed by mixing not only the International Racing Circuit, but our Hillside Rally Stage and circuit perimeter roads – creating individual 3+ mile long stages that will provide excellent spectating opportunities for Rally fans, all within the confines of Knockhill.

Competition Classes - Three main competition classes will take to the circuit throughout the weekend. Rally cars of the Past – featuring some of the best-loved competition Rally cars of the 70s and 80s, including stunning MKII Escorts and S2000s. Rally Cars of the Present – featuring some of the UK’s top Rallying outfits driving current-spec Evos, Imprezas, Fiestas and more. Rally Cars of the Future – showcasing up and coming young Rally talent via the Junior 1000 Rally Series.

Weekend Camping - The campsite will be open from Friday 15th May at 12pm through to Monday 18th May at 12pm. See the event features for a circuit map and link to further camping info.

Rally Forum (TBC) - On Saturday evening we will hold a Rally Forum in the Clubhouse from 7pm approx., featuring some of the famous faces that will be competing at the event including Jimmy and Alister McRae, Kris Meeke and rally legend Stig Blomqvist.

The latest rally star to sign-up for the challenge is Swedish former World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist. Blomqvist will drive the original Group B Audi Quattro Sport (due to MSA regulations, Stig will no longer be competing in the Audi, however, he will still participate behind the wheel of a Ford Escort RS) in which long time rival Hannu Mikkola scored numerous outright rally wins in 1982. A strong Ford and Subaru Owners’ Club presence will pack the venue full of over 250+ show cars. Private owners from up and down the country will converge on Knockhill to not only show their cars; but to participate in the event through parades and competitions, with trophies up for grabs for the best individual models (various categories).

Prior to the Rally starting at 2pm on Saturday 16th May, a Ford and Subaru only Trackday will take place from 9am to 1pm; giving individual owners the opportunity to really make a weekend of the McRae Rally Challenge, by participating on track - only 60 slots available with 20min sessions alternating throughout the 4 hour duration.


Ticket Information

Tickets for Saturday event days or Weekend Tickets can be booked until midnight Friday via our website (discounted advance prices).

Tickets for Sunday (main race day) can be booked until midnight on Saturday (discounted advance prices). Alternatively all tickets will be available at the gate all weekend (gate prices).

All tickets bought via the website or phone (01383 723337) will be posted out up until midday on the Wednesday prior to the event, thereafter the tickets will be held in 'Ticket Collection', located on the hairpin gate approach road.

Kids under 12 do not require a ticket, they are FREE.

Gates on Saturday will open at 8am and close at 8pm

Gates on Sunday open at 7.30am

How to get here

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF

If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.

If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

Taxi Drop Offs

The drop off area for taxi's etc. Will be next to the TICKET COLLECTION POINT, this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Pedestrians should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets / display passes.

Public Transport

Unfortunately Knockhill is not on any public transport routes! Please ensure you make alternative arrangements for getting to and from the Circuit.

The Weather

Always a topical subject at Knockhill, quite simply, come prepared for all weathers. We would say the same if the forecast was for blistering sunshine.

General Information

  • Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air all weekend.
  • If you wish to Text the Tower for a shout out, you can do so via 07941 808552
  • All routes to Knockhill will be very busy this weekend. Please give yourself appropriate time to get to the Circuit. There will be delays, but hopefully we can keep these to a minimum with your help and co-operation.
  • No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.
  • The circuit office will be open Sat 8am - 6pm and Sunday 7.30am to 6pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.
  • Trades stands are located at the hairpin and main straight.
  • Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office and a display is at the hairpin trade area.
  • Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Champions Clubhouse and Kinnaird's restaurant.
  • Arrive and Drive Karting will be operating for Kids 8yrs plus and Adults throughout the weekend from just £10, visit the Karting Centre for the timetable and full Info.

Very, Very Important: please drive with due care and observe speed limits when leaving the venue, we don't want your day ruined by receiving a speeding fine.
