The Scottish SpeedFair and Classic Festival just got bigger!!
This year’s SpeedFair Event on 19th July has had a number of prestigious exhibits confirmed, adding to an already impressive list.
• One of the most famous Formula One cars ever raced by triple World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, a March 701, is being released from the Glasgow Museum of Transport especially for this prestigious event. The March has never been to Knockhill before, and brings with it an impressively successful pedigree.
• Finishing the Monte Carlo Rally is an achievement in itself, but the Mini Cooper registered as 977 ARX finished third overall and won its class in 1963 in the hands of Rauno Aaltonen and Tony Ambrose. In this 50th Anniversary year of the Issigonis-designed BMC Mini, the Scottish SpeedFair and Classic Festival at Knockhill is proud that this iconic example will be on show. Not only that, the car itself will be driven as one of the SpeedFair Course Cars. As one of the Mini Coopers that inspired the classic 1960s film The Italian Job, this car is a superbly maintained example and fully paid-up member of the “Self-Preservation Society”!
• MORGAN is celebrating its centenary this year. Our friends at Russell Paterson Morgan are bringing a fabulous collection of classic and contemporary Morgans, including a 2009 Aeromax. A very special Morgan will be on show, the “Pudsey Car”. This is a Morgan 4/4 Sport, the bonnet of which is being signed by a host of A-List celebrities. The car will ultimately be auctioned to raise money for Children in Need, and will come to its lucky owner with two bonnets, the signed version for very special occasions, and one for the road. This is a Europe-wide initiative by the Morgan Motor Company Ltd, and we are fortunate that its visit to Scotland coincides with the Scottish SpeedFair and Classic Festival.
• OFF THE TRACK, a grid of some 40 Rally Cars is being assembled. They will provide a superb spectacle as they charge around the Knockhill Special Rally Stage. Feature cars include a Lancia Stratos, numerous Minis, classic Saabs, with an Audi Quattro Sport and BMW 2002 as Course Cars.
The Quality of the 4th Scottish SpeedFair and Classic Festival is gathering pace every week: keep a lookout for more content as it is confirmed.
