Podcast FAQ's

What is Podcasting?

From it’s inception on the West Coast of the USA a few years ago, Podcasting has rapidly increased in popularity and has developed into a truly unique and exciting way to engage with downloaded multimedia content.

Similar to a Television Show; content is produced and distributed out to an audience who then enjoy the Show as and when it suits them. Additionally, instead of broadcasting a ‘one-off’ program like TV does, a Podcast is downloaded automatically by the user’s computer in the background. This means that when the user is ready to enjoy a Podcast, it is right there waiting for them!

Also, a Podcast is not limited to being just Audio or Video - Word documents, .PDFs, Powerpoints and more can all be Podcast. All of this makes a strong and compelling argument for why you should be Podcasting already but in case you are still undecided, there are some more reasons to Podcast:

 · Email is fast becoming a channel clogged with spam and uninteresting content and email inboxes have trouble handling large files.

· The rise in popularity of sites such as YouTube, Google Video, Daily Motion and even the BBC’s iPlayer have increased demand for multimedia content.

· Time is valuable. Users want to watch and listen to content when and where they choose

· Environmental impact. In today’s increasingly environmentally conscious world, being seen to embrace new, paper-free communications shows that you are taking steps to minimise waste.

· Cost. Once a Podcast is produced, it can be distributed to as many people as you like and viewed over and over
