If you have purchased tickets, they will still be valid for any revised date – or any other Scottish Championship (SMRC) race event held later in the season. Let’s go racing! It’s go, go, go for the start of the 2020 Scottish Championship car racing season organised by the SMRC with their superb range of racing classes and super-slick racing format, featuring the return of Long Circuit Karts.  With up to 18 races to entertain you during an action-packed day with qualifying from 8.30am and racing from about 11am through until around 5.30pm (check the website for exact timings nearer the event).

It's also  our 5th Armed Forces Appreciation Day with all serving and veterans gaining free entry with any accompanying family members enjoying the concessionary entry price.

Event Information

FREE ENTRY for  serving  members and veterans of the Armed Forces, with anyone accompanying only paying concession prices.

Our Armed Forces Appreciation Day is the opening round of the season and SMRC competitors will be looking to start their 2020 campaigns in stunning style.  Feature races include the  retrun of the Long Circuit Karts, Scottish Citroen C1 Cup, Scottish Formula Ford, Legends, Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup, Classic Sports & Saloons and Scottish Fiesta ST & Hot Hatch Championships. A jam-packed programme will keep you enthralled and entertained throughout the day. The Knockhill track provides the perfect circuit for exciting wheel-to-wheel racing – which is always spectacular across all classes!

Gates open at 8am with qualifying from 8.30am and racing from around 11 am with action all day.

On the day our expert commentary team will provide up to the minute live race commentary, pit-lane scoops and behind the scenes interviews and discussions. And, our interactive text the tower and Twitter commentary will provide an additional platform to engage with the event. The open and accessible paddock allows you to get up close to the same machines, and drivers, you’ll see flash past on track, at speeds in excess of 120mph.

Additional points of note:

  • SMRC race days are great value for money with 8 hours or fast and furious action that will keep you and your family/friends and relatives enthralled from start to finish
  • Long Circuit Karts make a welcome return with their 130mph machines riding only centemetres above the track.
  • We will have a display of military vehicles of all types and sizes on show to add to the tribute for those in the Armed Forces.
  • Free lunch break grid walk - everyone, of all ages, are welcomedon the grid as the Scottish Sports and Saloon racers prepare for their race. Its your chance to enjoy the thrill of getting on the grid just moments before racing starts.
  • You’ll see 100+ of Scotland’s top racing drivers compete in a wide variety of vehicles and Championships.
  • Spectacular viewing areas are available throughout the venue and multiple corners can be seen from several locations.
  • Knockhill boasts some very special corners and scenery, and viewing around the entire venue is highly recommended.
  • Remember to bring your camera, you’ll be amazed how close you can get to the action – and it’s a perfect way to showcase what you’ve been up to at Knockhill. Use your social media to post and tag us in the pictures you take
  • There’s also a family play park, picnic area and expanded new Kids’ Zones at certain events (see event features); perfect for those moments when you need the kids to let off some steam.

  • Spectator car parking areas allow you to watch the action from the comfort of your car when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Who is this event for?

Our SMRC race days are an exciting and action-packed car race day suitable for families of all ages. Members of the public can watch racing classes on one day, with up to 18 races and up to 30 competitors competing on the track at any given time. There’s always plenty of fast-paced entertainment on view, alongside plenty of heart-stopping incidents to talk about on the journey home.

What is the SMRC?

The SMRC is the Scottish Motor Racing Club, Scotland’s oldest car racing club and features members from up and down the country, competing on track for Scottish Championship titles. The Club organises and administers a series of six events each year, with points scored at each round determining the overall Scottish Champions for each class.

Why attend this event?

The SMRC race days feature a full day-long programme of racing with up to 18 races competing on track in one day. The SMRC is made up of seven main Championship classes – with sub classes within each main class.

On any given SMRC race day you’ll see competing races for the following Championships:

  • The Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup Championship
  • The Scottish Formula Ford 1600 Championship
  • The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons Championship
  • The Scottish Fiesta ST and Hot Hatch Championship
  • The Scottish Legends Championship
  • The Scottish Citroen C1 Cup
  • Long Circuit Karts

How to book?

Tickets for all six SMRC meetings held at Knockhill this year are available via the Knockhill website. Knockhill Racing Circuit administers dispatches and manages all ticket requests for the events. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone (01383 723337) or purchased at the gate on the day of the event (subject to on the day pricing).

Event Disclaimer

Please remember that Knockhill is an outdoor venue and you should dress appropriately for that. There can be changeable weather conditions therefore extra clothing and sensible footwear is advised with trainer type shoes or walking boots preferred (no leather soles or high heels please). Being on a hillside, the spectator bankings and some pathways are steep, so please take extra care when moving around the site. As we are a motorsport venue, no dogs are allowed on site apart from Guide Dogs. Additional clothing, hats, gloves and sun cream can be purchased from the Circuit Office should you require. How to get here

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF

If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.

If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

Taxi Drop Offs

The drop off area for taxi's etc. Will be next to the MAIN GATEHOUSE/TICKET COLLECTION POINT, this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Pedestrians should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets / display passes.

Disabled Spectators

Knockhill provides a number of disabled trackside parking areas and viewing platforms (hairpin and 1st corner). Additionally, at most events, additional trackside parking can be used to view the action from the comfort of your own car. At major events (i.e. BSB and BTCC), disabled parking is limited and may differ from a standard event at Knockhill (we'll confirm the location in any pre-event communication). Please note, Knockhill is an outdoor venue and some of the bankings around the track may not be suitable for disabled customers. We have disabled toilet facilities around the entire venue, as well as baby changing facilities if required. There are no pets allowed at Knockhill, with the exception of guide dogs. Where a disabled person wishes to attend an event, and requires a carer to accompany them, the carer will receive free admission on the presentation of some form of carers id. Disabled badges should be showcased on vehicles on approach to the venue so that parking attendants and staff can clearly identity anyone with additional needs. However, at some events we cannot guarantee you'll be parked inside the circuit as spaces are limited. Public Transport

Unfortunately Knockhill is not on any public transport routes! Please ensure you make alternative arrangements for getting to and from the Circuit.

The Weather

We are an outdoor venue with 5 shelters located around the circuit, so watch out for the weather forecast and come dressed accordingly with good strong footwear.

General Information

  • Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air for Race Day.
  • If you wish to Text the Tower for a shout out, you can do so via 07483 478441
  • All routes to Knockhill will be very busy this weekend. Please give yourself appropriate time to get to the Circuit. There will be delays, but hopefully we can keep these to a minimum with your help and co-operation.
  • No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.
  • The circuit office will be open Sat 8am - 6pm and Sunday 7.30am to 6pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.
  • Trades stands are located at the hairpin and main straight.
  • Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office .
  • Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Champions Clubhouse and Kinnaird's restaurant.
  • Arrive and Drive Karting will be operating for Kids 8yrs plus and Adults throughout the weekend from just £10, visit the Karting Centre for the timetable and full Info.

Very, Very Important: please drive with due care and observe speed limits when leaving the venue, we don't want your day ruined by receiving a speeding fine.

Drones: Due to CAA safety regulations the flying and use of drones are strictly forbidden at Knockhill Racing Circuit .
