Scottish Championship Car Racing organised by the SMRC, has a superb range of racing classes, a super-slick racing format with around 18 races to entertain you during an action-packed afternoon. Action will come from Scottish Formula Ford, Legends, Mini Coopers, BMW Compacts, Fiestas and Hot Hatches, Sports & Saloon and Classic Sports & Saloon Championships. A jam-packed programme will keep you enthralled, thrilled  and entertained throughout the day. The Knockhill track provides the perfect platform for open, exciting and wheel-to-wheel racing – which is always spectacular across all classes! 

In addition to the SMRC race day, the lunch break grid walk is for the SMTA Scottish Fiesta & Hot Hatch Championship . The gridwalk is completely free of charge to raceday ticket holders so listen out for paddock announcements and on KnockhillFM 87.7 on the day for more information on how to get involved.  At the start of the lunch break, we will be having a parade of Vauxhall’s and a Vauxhall drag race as part of the Vauxhall Gathering.

Vauxhall owners wanting to display their car can either pre-book online or turn up at the gate to get in for the Show Car rate of £7 with passengers within their cars for the concession rate.

Kids under 12 do not require a ticket, they are FREE.

It’s almost halfway throgh the season for the Scottish Championship competitors. On the day our expert commentary team will provide up to the minute live race commentary, pit-lane scoops and behind the scenes interviews and discussions. And, our interactive text the tower and Twitter commentary will provide an additional platform to engage with the event. The open and accessible paddock allows you to get up close to the same machines, and drivers, you’ll see whizz past on track, at speeds in excess of 140mph. On top of this we have the return of our Vauxhall Gathering, which will have a display of cars that will be parades on track during the lunch break. 

How To Take Part in the Vauxhall Gathering: 2 options

1)  Simply turn up at the gate and pay the reduced showcar entry showcar fee of £7
or
2)  Prebook your space by following the instructions below

Showcar owners are welcome to purchase entry tickets on the gate. We've also launched a new Online Clubstand System to give clubs complete control over their attendances at events. Club Admins can now create their own clubs and at a glance see how many of their members are signed up to events. Over time Knockhill will be adding more functionality to this system based on your feedback. For those already registered on the online system, you DO NOT need to register again.   • Spectator car parking areas allow you to watch the action from the comfort of your car, when the weather takes a turn for the worse.
  • As well our two on-site restaurants, there are always a number of other outlets to purchase food and beverages from.

Who is this event for?

Our SMRC racedays are an exciting and action-packed day out suitable for families of all ages. Members of the public can watch multiple racing classes on one day, with up to 30 competitors competing on track at any given time; there’s always plenty of fast-paced entertainment on view, alongside plenty of heart-stopping incidents to talk about on the journey home.

What is the SMRC?

The Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) is Scotland’s premier car racing club and features members from up and down the country, competing on track for Scottish Championship titles. The Club, organises and administers a series of events each year, with points scored at each round determining the overall Scottish Champions for each class.

When do the events take place?

SMRC events take place throughout the year at Knockhill Racing Circuit. The SMRC also takes some of its member classes to other UK circuits throughout the year. At Knockhill, the SMRC hosts seven individual events that take place once a month (from April to October), with the series reaching a dramatic climax at the final event of the year (October).

Why attend this event?

The SMRC racedays feature a full day-long programme of racing with up to 18 races competing on track in one day. The SMRC is made up of seven main Championship classes – with sub classes within each main class. On any given SMRC raceday you’ll see competing races for the following Championships:

  • The Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup
  • The Scottish Formula Ford 1600 Championship
  • The Scottish Saloons and Sports Car Championship
  • The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons Championship
  • The Scottish Fiesta & Hot Hatch Championship
  • The Scottish Legends Championship
  • The Scottish BMW Compact Cup

How to book?

Tickets for all seven SMRC meetings held at Knockhill this year are available via the KNOCKHILL website. Knockhill Racing Circuit administers, dispatches and manages all ticket requests for the events. Booking online saves money with all advanced tickets subject to pre-booking discounts. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone (01383 723337) or purchased at the venue on the day of the event (subject to on the day pricing).

Classic Sports and Saloons - The Classic Sports & Saloon Championship is one of the more popular events held at SMRC, both mass production-based cars and limited production run cars take part in this championship. All vehicles taking part are split into 8 different classes, these classes are mainly for cars created up until the 31st December 1985. However, cars in Class F are for cars manufactured from the 1st January 1985 to the 31st December 1990. How to get here

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF

If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.

If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

The drop off area for taxi's etc. will be at the main gate.

Parking

All parking is on site, you can drive all around the outside of the circuit to view from your preferred area.

Disabled Parking

For disabled spectators you can drive around the outside of the circuit and also in the disabled parking area overlooking the hairpin.

The weather

Always a topical subject at Knockhill, quite simply, come prepared for all weathers. We would say the same if the forecast was for blistering sunshine.

Drones: Due to CAA safety regulations the flying and use of drones are strictly forbidden at Knockhill Racing Circuit .

General Information

  • Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air all weekend.
  • If you wish to Text the Tower for a shout out, you can do so via 07941 808552.
  • No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.
  • The circuit office will be open from 7.30am to 5pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.
  • Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office.
  • Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Champions Clubhouse and Kinnaird's restaurant.
  • Karting - pre-booking is advised as 'arrive and drive' is not always available.
