The 2020 British Touring Car Championship event is our joint biggest event of the year and will take place over the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August. Whenever the BTCC rolls into Knockhill, it brings world class racing drivers and teams , not only in the top of the bill Touring Cars but across a jammed packed support programme too. The racing always enthrals, excites and entertains in equal measure, and in 2019 was even more emotional for the Scottish fans with a home win by Rory Butcher in his AmD Honda Civic.

Household names such as Plato, Turkington, Neal, Butcher, Sutton and Moffat will do battle in their highly charged racing saloon cars from Honda, BMW, Ford, Subaru, Audi, Mercedes and other. 

Saturday will see all the championships duel for the coveted pole position spots and Sunday is non stop racing for the  superb support line-up featuring  Ginetta GT5 Challenge, Ginetta Junior Chmapionship, Porsche Carerra Cup GB and British F4 Championships with an amazing three thrilling BTCC races topping the bill. 2020 will also see the Mini Challenge Championship that will add yet more excitement to a jam-packed programme of racing. Our usual weekend camping and VIP Hospitality options will also be available for those that wish to make the most of their visit to Knockhill.

Event Information

Come and see Britain's premier racing series tackle the twists and dips of the Knockhill Circuit. Touring Cars at Knockhill provides an action-packed day of entertainment for the whole family. It's a true festival of speed with exhilarating racing action all day long. You can even meet the stars, get autographs and merchandise goodies from your favourite teams. Knockhill can be a challenging venue for the competitors, but one thing is for sure... you are guaranteed superb action.

For those of you unfamiliar with British Touring Car events at Knockhill… it’s one of our headline events of the season. It will see top teams and drivers from the UK and abroad, compete for 2 days over the action-packed twists and dips of Knockhill. Exhilarating racing action is guaranteed - with practice, qualifying and 15 races to entertain and enthral over the weekend of 29th to 30th August 2020.

The British Touring Car events have become much more than just a race-meeting, it's a real motorsports festival with entertainment, action and enjoyment for all; add in ultra-competitive racing that will have you on tenterhooks throughout and this makes the BTCC at Knockhill one of the must-attend events on the 2020 Knockhill calendar!!

 What to look forward to at Knockhill:

Action starts on Saturday 29th August with a number of warm up sessions for all classes. Saturday will see support qualifying, the intriguing BTCC qualification process and support class racing in the afternoon. Sunday 30th August (raceday) will feature exhilarating support class racing and three feature races for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

A few other stand-out points about the BTCC event:

Touch the Track - For the fifth year running, we'll be opening the gates to the track after the final race on Sunday 30th August to do an American style touch-the-track event. Spectators can flood onto the track and walk the famous twists and dips of Knockhill to view the circuit from a driver's perspective - a brilliant way to finish off your BTCC weekend!

Extended Opening Hours - A number of food courts/vans/outlets will also be staying open for longer. So instead of rushing off and being caught in the exit process, sit back, enjoy some refreshments and reflect on all of the day’s highlights, whilst listening to some music via our radio station broadcasting on 87.7FM .

Arrive and Drive Karting – Our Karting Centre will also be open to 6 pm, allowing adults and kids to participate in a spot of racing of their very own in our new fleet of Sodi kids and adult karts. Places can be booked throughout the day from £10 for 10-minute sessions. Simply call into the Kart Centre on the day for timings and availability.

Event Disclaimer

Please remember that Knockhill is an outdoor venue and you should dress appropriately for that. There can be changeable weather conditions therefore extra clothing and sensible footwear is advised with trainer type shoes or walking boots preferred (no leather soles or high heels please). Being on a hillside, the spectator bankings and some pathways are steep, so please take extra care when moving around the site. As we are a motorsport venue, no dogs are allowed on site apart from Guide Dogs. Additional clothing, hats, gloves and sun cream can be purchased from the Circuit Office should you require. Ticket Information

Tickets for Saturday or the full weekend can be booked until midnight Friday via our website (discounted advance prices).

Tickets for Sunday (main race day) can be booked until midnight on Saturday (discounted advance prices).

Alternatively all tickets will be available at the gate all weekend (gate prices).

All tickets bought via the website or phone (01383 723337) will be posted out up until midday on the Wednesday prior to the event, thereafter the tickets will be held in 'Ticket Collection', located on the hairpin gate approach road.

Kids under 12 do not require a ticket, they are FREE.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Ticket types:

  • Adult - Over 16 yrs
  • Concession - 12 to 16 yrs, OAP, Disabled*, Student (with photo ID)
  • Family - 2 Adults + 2 Concession (not required if children are under 12 yrs)

*Carers go free to all of our events, please bring your carer letter as proof at the gate. 

Camping Information

The campsite is located near Clark's Corner, some of the pitches have a circuit view, these are allocated on a first come first served basis. The camp site is a grass area with a limited amount of hard standing gravel for caravans and motorhomes. As the camp site is normally a sell-out well before the event, advanced booking is essential.

A wristband will be given to you when you arrive at the campsite with your ticket. 

No animals allowed

No awnings allowed on caravans or motorhomes due to limited space.

There is no power provided

Toilets, showers and water stand pipes are within the campsite

Under 12's free

Where possible cars can be parked beside the tents if there is no planned vehicle movement throughout the weekend. If the car needs to be moved we ask you to park in the car park next to the camping area.

No fires or fireworks

BBQs are permitted, they must be attended to at all times

Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis

There will be a 'family / quiet' area for campers wishing a peaceful weekend, however we do remind all campers to behave responsibly and ensure the camping weekend is enjoyable for everybody. This includes no anti social behaviour and loud music.

The camp site is open from 12pm on Thursday for Early arrival ticket purchasers or on Friday from 8am. The campsite will close on Monday at 12pm on Monday.  Campers are welcome to stay over on Sunday night at no extra charge.

Gates on Saturday will open at 8am

Gates on Sunday open at 7.00am

How to get here

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF

If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.

If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

Taxi Drop Offs

The drop off area for taxi's etc. Will be next to the TICKET COLLECTION POINT, this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Pedestrians should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets / display passes.

Arriving at the circuit

All traffic on Saturday will enter the venue via the main drive.

On Sunday there are two entrance points in operation. Most traffic travelling from the West (via Kincardine Bridge, Perthshire) will enter via the main drive, unless disabled or on a motorcycle, all vehicle access to the circuit is through the hairpin gate (Gate A). Traffic from the East (Edinburgh, Dunfermline) will enter via Gate D at Scotsman corner. EXCEPTIONS - traffic must NOT enter via Gate D if you have an official vehicle pass, you hold a VIP or season vehicle pass, if you are on a motorcycle, if you are disabled or you have tickets to collect at Ticket Collection. If you are travelling from the East and your situation is listed in the Exceptions list you should enter via the main drive and follow the signs.


Spectators must enter via the main drive only and head for the collection point which is clearly signed.

All parking is on site. For disabled spectators there is a limited number of trackside parking spaces. 

Please, follow all the direction of the stewards, they are there to assist and will get you in and out of the venue as soon as they can.

Please clearly display any passes, disabled car passes, season passes as visibly as possible.

Please also ensure you have your money ready if you are paying at the gate to help speed up the entry process.

When you park up please take notice of the car park signage to identify where you have parked your car.

Disabled Spectators:

Knockhill provides a number of disabled trackside parking areas and viewing platforms (hairpin and 1st corner). Additionally, at most events, additional trackside parking can be used to view the action from the comfort of your own car. At major events (i.e. BSB and BTCC), disabled parking is limited and may differ from a standard event at Knockhill (we'll confirm the location in any pre-event communication). Please note, Knockhill is an outdoor venue and some of the bankings around the track may not be suitable for disabled customers. We have disabled toilet facilities around the entire venue, as well as baby changing facilities if required. There are no pets allowed at Knockhill, with the exception of guide dogs. Where a disabled person wishes to attend an event, and requires a carer to accompany them, the carer will receive free admission on the presentation of some form of carers id. Disabled badges should be showcased on vehicles on approach to the venue so that parking attendants and staff can clearly identity anyone with additional needs. However, at some events we cannot guarantee you'll be parked inside the circuit as spaces are limited. General Information

Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air all weekend.

All routes to Knockhill will be very busy this weekend. Please give yourself appropriate time to get to the Circuit. There will be delays, but hopefully we can keep these to a minimum with your help and co-operation.

No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.

The circuit office will be open Sat 8am - 6pm and Sunday 7.30am to 6pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.

Trades stands are located at the hairpin and the main straight.

Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office.

Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Paddock Cafe & Bar and Kinnaird's restaurant.

Arrive and Drive Karting will be operating for Kids 8yrs plus and Adults throughout the weekend from just £10, visit the Karting Centre for the timetable and full Info.


Please remember which gate you entered the circuit, if you leave via the same gate this will help to ensure you travel on the same road.

Please note that traffic will be allowed to turn left or right when exiting the circuit, this will be managed by traffic lights.  

Very, Very Important: please drive with due care and observe speed limits, we don’t want your weekend ruined by receiving a speeding fine.

Drones: Due to CAA safety regulations the flying and use of drones are strictly forbidden at Knockhill Racing Circuit .
