We believe everyone should have some knowledge of how to truly control your vehicle, whether you have just passed your test or been driving for many years you never know when you may be in a situation when your car starts to skid. Rally & Skid Combo Experience

Hang onto your Hat! Two fabulous experiences with a bit of a twist and more than a few turns! Learn the art of control on the skid pan and enjoy the feeling of out of control on the rally stage. Expert tuition at our skid pan facility learning how to get you and your car in and out of a spin! Then it’s off to our hillside rally stage in charge of a rapid fully prepared Ford fiesta rally car. Master On Road Course

(Skid Control Course & On Road Training)

This visit to Knockhill offers you the ultimate all round driver training course. Learn potentially life saving skills on the skid pan and brake and avoid lane with a skid control course. Then set off with a fully qualified ADI instructor out on the open road. At the wheel of your own car it’s time to learn some advanced and defensive driving techniques with the aim to help you become a safer driver, raise your driving standards and fuel economy and reduce the wear and tear on your vehicle.

Q. Do I need a full driving Licence for this experience?

A. Yes! A full valid UK/European driving licence is required for the Skid Control Experience. We may ask you to produce your licence and ask that you have this available.

Q. How long is the Skid Control Experience Gift Voucher Valid for?

A. Generally our gift vouchers are valid for 8 months if purchased in the months of January through to October and 12 months if purchased in November and December. We also have some special offers available for shorter validity gift vouchers. Please check the validity stated on your chosen Skid Control Experience package.

Q. Must I use the Skid Control Experience voucher before the expiry date?

A. Yes, although we will be happy to extend your voucher at a charge of £10 per month for a maximum of 6 months. After this time your voucher will be expired.

Q. How soon will I receive my voucher?

A. An e-voucher will be sent to you instantly on completion of your order! Our gift vouchers and gift boxes are posted out to you within 1 day using Royal Mail’s first class post service. For those really urgent postal orders you can select Next Day Delivery for an additional £5 fee.

Q. What does a Skid Control Experience e-voucher look like?

A. Our e-vouchers are sent directly to your email address as a PDF attachment. This prints off easily on to A4 sized paper and shows lovely images and full experience details. It’s a super quick and easy way to order a gift voucher, simply purchase then print off and present! There is no charge for sending an e-voucher.

Q. What does a Gift Voucher look like?

A. Our printed gift vouchers look great! They are A4 sized and contain experience images and full details of your visit; there is a perforated section at the bottom with security foil and booking details. We will post this out to you with a glossy gift wallet and accompanying envelope. Our packaging is unbranded to keep the gift a secret until the big day. There is a charge of £1.50 for this service.

Q. What is included in the gift box?

A. If you choose to add a gift box to your order, we will enclose an A4 sized printed gift voucher in a metal presentation box alongside a quality branded ballpoint pen and Knockhill keyring. This is posted out to you in an unbranded protective cardboard wrapping just the right size to fit through your letterbox. It’s a lovely gift in itself and fun to wrap up and keep them guessing. There is a charge of £6.50 for this option including postage.

Q. Are the Skid Control Experience gift vouchers refundable?

A. For your peace of mind you can return your voucher to us within 7 days of receipt for a full refund. All refunds will be made to the purchaser by the original payment method. After the 7 day period and before the expiry date you may transfer the voucher to an alternative driver, experience or product from the Knockhill range.

Q. What happens if I pick the wrong experience?

A. Our driving experience collection is completely flexible! If you have chosen the wrong experience, we will be happy to change this to any other experience within the same price range at no additional charge. You can also upgrade to another experience at any time.

Q. Do I have to arrange a date for the Skid Control Experience?

A. No! A suitable date and time can be arranged with us anytime within the validity period.

Q. How do I arrange a date and time to take part?

A. You can contact us by telephone! We are available 7 days a week from 9am until 6pm (5pm at weekends). Alternatively you can book a date online; select ‘Redeem a Voucher’ and follow the on screen instructions; you will need your voucher reference number and the driver’s surname.

Q. What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my Skid Control Experience?

A. We are normally unaffected by the weather and experienced at operating within the Scottish climate. Your safety is our number one priority and should the weather become extreme and we feel it is not safe to drive; your experience may be withdrawn. If this happens we will make every effort to contact you before you make your journey to Knockhill, unfortunately for late cancellations this may not be possible. Your experience can be rearranged for another date suitable for you and we can grant you 3 additional months validity on your voucher if you need it!

Q. What if I need to cancel my chosen date?

A. We will be happy to accept one cancellation and rebooking at no extra charge; all we ask is that you give us 14 days’ notice. Any cancellations out with this period will be subject to an additional £20 cancellation fee. Non-attendance will incur a 50% additional rebooking charge.

Q. Can I arrange ‘Extra Products’ on the day of my Skid Control Experience?

A. Yes, however all products are all subject to availability so prebooking is recommended.

Q. Will there be other people driving on track at the same time?

A. Yes, you will take part alongside other participants. Your session will be shared with a maximum of 2 other drivers. In our experience this makes for a fun visit with a little friendly competition.

Q. Can my family and friends come along to spectate?

A. Yes, the more the merrier! All our experiences are great fun for spectators too. Friends and family are welcome to cheer you on from the viewing area located within the skid centre. Hot and cold food, snacks and drinks are normally available throughout your visit at one of our on site facilities. Seasonal opening times may apply; please call to check before your visit. We do ask that you leave your dogs at home as they are not permitted within the venue.

Q. How early should I arrive for my Skid Control Experience?

A. Please arrive at least 20mins before your allocated briefing time. You should report for registration directly to the skid centre.

Q. Is there an age restriction?

A. Yes, you must be at least 17 years old and hold a + with a full valid UK/European driving licence. There is no upper age limit.

Q. What sort of clothes and footwear is best?

A. Dress for comfort and outdoors. We suggest Jeans and trainers or anything that you are comfortable driving in. High heels, sandals and flip flops are best avoided.

Q. What happens if I crash?

A. We take your safety and the safety of our staff and our other customers very seriously at Knockhill; if you follow the directions and guidance of our instructors and experience team this is highly unlikely. However, motorsport is dangerous and should any accidents happen on track all vehicles are the responsibility of Knockhill Racing Circuit Ltd and you will not be liable for damage to them. Our operations team are all highly trained in emergency first aid for your safety and peace of mind. We also hold public liability insurance to the value of £10, 000,000.

Q. Are there any other Charges or fees?

A. In a word NO! There are no hidden charges with our experiences. We don’t ask you to sign up for expensive liability waivers or cancellation insurances. The price we charge offers you a full experience with first class facilities, expert instruction. You can purchase extra products such as Karting sessions to enhance your visit to Knockhill; this is entirely optional and are available for your enjoyment at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre.

Knockhill Skid Pan

The skid pan was built in 1997 and has helped 1000’s of people regain their confidence after an accident or simply given them the knowledge on how to handle their car if something goes wrong. In 2007 we introduced the Brake and Avoidance Lane which is where a vital part of our training takes place. We have trained many companies, helping to bring down their Insurance claims and also the Scottish Ambulance and Fire Brigade as well. Knockhill Racing Circuit has Scotland’s only Skid Pan and our aim is to teach life saving driving skills by taking part in our Skid Control experience. Learn new driving skills to help you when driving in wet road conditions, skidding on black ice or even aquaplaning. An educational, fun and unique experience allowing you to gain new skills and learn skid avoidance techniques.
