Franchitti to race at Petit Le Mans

Bathgate’s Dario Franchitti will swap his Ganassi IndyCar for an Acura sportscar next month when he makes his debut at Petit Le Mans, the latest round of the American Le Mans Series, in Atlanta.

The 35-year-old Scot, a former class winner in the Honda-powered Acura at the 12 Hours of Sebring, will partner Scott Sharp and David Brabham in the Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-01b

“I’m really excited,” Franchitti, who recently confirmed his switch from Nascar back to IndyCars, said. “I’ve been very impressed with Scott, David, and the whole team this year, so it was easy to say yes.

“To be back in the Acura and to race in a field which includes my brother Marino and my new Indy team-mate Scott Dixon will be great.”
