Triple World GT delight for Sharp

Aberdeen’s Ryan Sharp won his third FIA World GT Championship race of the season when he powered his Jetalliance Aston Martin DBR9 to an eight-second victory at Brno in the Czech Republic.

The 29-year-old Scot, partnered by Austrian ex-Formula One racer Karl Wendlinger, comfortably dominated the race ahead of a trio of Corvettes with Mike Hezemans’ finally finishing second ahead of Xavier Maassen.

“Everything just worked perfectly for us,” Sharp, who started the two-hour race from pole position and also won at Silverstone and Oscherslaben, explained afterwards. “We had no problems with the car and we were able to pace ourselves right from the start of the race.

“It’s important for us to win after the frustrations of Spa, where we failed to finish, and Bucharest where we pulled out because of safety concerns. We always knew we had a fast car and it just sets us up nicely for the final three races of the season.”
