Brown grabs back-to-back Brit FFord wins

Glasgow’s David Brown ended his British Formula Ford Championship season in the best possible style by winning the final two races at Donington Park in his Fluid Motorsport-prepared Van Diemen.

The 19-year-old Scot was in determined form from the outset, qualifying fourth on the grid and running second behind champion-elect Wayne Boyd all the way to the last lap of the opening race of the final triple-header race.

But though Brown did manage to pass Boyd on the final lap, he in turn was leapfrogged for victory by Brazilian Victor Correa.

Brown though soon put matters to rights, fighting past leader Boyd two laps from the end of the championship’s penultimate round to claim his maiden victory by half a second.

“It was a long time coming,” Brown smiled today. “It was a great race, so close all the way, but I loved every minute. Of course I was gutted not to win the first race, especially having finally got past Wayne, but Victor drove brilliantly.”

To rub in his advantage at the Leicestershire circuit, Brown then went on to dominate the third race. The talented young Scot led every lap on his way to a comfortable victory 3.4secs clear of Boyd.

While Brown, who won the Formula Ford Scholarship title in 2006, ended the year seventh  in the championship, 17-year-old Ulsterman Boyd clinched the overall British Formula Ford Championship title.
