McNish leads Audi Le Mans driver line-up

Dumfries racing ace Allan McNish will lead Audi’s assault to retain the Le Mans 24-Hours next month. The 39-year-old, who dominated the event last year, will again be partnered by Italian Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen from Denmark.

Audi confirmed its driver line-up today, with the-all German crew of Lucas Luhr, Mike Rockenfeller and Marco Werner piloting the manufacturer’s second R15TDI turbo-diesel.

“It’s brilliant to be paired again with Dindo and Tom,” McNish admitted. “We worked perfectly as a team last year and would be fantastic to win the race again with the same trio.

“We had a run-out earlier this year when we won the 12-Hours of Sebring. In many ways it was the perfect dress-rehearsal for the main event in France. Winning Le Mans remains the major achievement in sportscar racing and it’s one we want to repeat again this year.”

Audi’s third car in the June 13/14 race will be driven by German Timo Bernhard and French pair, Romain Dumas and Alex Premat.
