Double champ Wilks to tackle RallyScotland

Five months before it roars into action in the Perthshire forests, double British rally champ Guy Wilks has confirmed he will lead Proton’s assault on the inaugural RallyScotland in November.

Wilks, the 28-year-old from Darlington, will tackle the final round of the prestigious Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) on Nov 19/21 partnered in his Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 by his regular co-driver, Welshman Phil Pugh.

“Tackling the next seven rounds of the IRC is going to be fantastic,” Wilks admitted today, “and there’s no doubt contesting the finale in Scotland will be one of the highlights for me. To compete in a new event on British soil will be fantastic.”

Wilks, who was coached during the early part of his career by Scotland’s former world rally champ Colin McRae, was runner-up in the 2005 Junior World Rally Championship and last  competed in Scotland in 2004 in the Dumfries-based Scottish International Rally.
