The Steve Hislop ‘Flying Haggis’ Trophy is to be awarded again on Sunday 5th July to the rider who records the fastest lap time of the day. Previous winners have included Shakey Burn, and it is a mark of how much regard that Steve still holds from the BSB grid that the memory of him and his amazing exploits lives on.
The timing of the BSB event is just after the TT, an event that Steve dominated for so many years and at which John McGuinness is currently setting the heather on fire!
John, who rides for the Padgetts Honda team has just smashed the outright TT record again, making him the fastest man ever round the island and now lies second in the all-time standings behind the great Joey Dunlop and ahead of the legendary Mike Hailwood. John, who hails from Morecombe, rides in the Superstock 1000 class, showing just how much quality there is across all the championships at this world class meeting.
