Car Racing This Sunday (18th April)

The 2010 season opening car race meeting this Sunday is set to be the busiest ever for Knockhill with record entries in almost every class.  Not only will the action be wall to wall in terms of numbers of entries, but the quality of drivers is up too with many champions or ex-champions returning.

The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons has a record 60 registrations this year making it the single biggest class in the history of Scottish Motorsport.  The entry for Sunday is so big that some drivers are on the reserve list and may not even get a race!  Heading the entry list are Olly Ross from Helensburgh in a Lotus, Ian Daltry in an Alfa from Dingwall and Kenny Allen from Crossford near Lanark.

Heading the other classes is the returning multi British Mini Champion Oli Mortimer from Edinburgh.  Oli has won the Scottish Championship once and the British Championship twice, and makes his racing return to Scotland after 3 years away in the Scottish Mini Cooper Championship.

The premier Single Seater Class for Formula Fords has three young guns targeting the title this year with Dunfermline’s Joe Tanner and Craig Brunton are going head to head with Eaglesham’s Scott Fraser.  All three are on the pace and are starting as joint favourites.

Action starts at 10am with 14 races scheduled. Admission is £12 and concessions £6.
