Lloyd’s EVO rules the roost

Gareth Lloyd and his Mitsubishi EVO 5 claimed the outright win in the Time Attack series this afternoon at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

Lloyd lapped the 1.3 mile championship circuit in 51.355 to win, he also set a new Knockhill Time Attack lap record in the process. The previous record set in 2009 by Knockhill’s own Rory Butcher, now starring in the British GT Championship was ousted on only his second lap of the final session.

“It’s great to come up here and leave with a win, it’s a long journey home for a lot of the guys, but l have to say the weekend has been well worth it.

“The event has kicked on from last year and it goes to show the strides the Time Attack series is making with a new lap record being set again this year. Fingers crossed l’ll be back next year to hopefully do the same again,” said a delighted Lloyd after his win.

The Lotus Exige of Steve Guglielmi came in a close second with a time of 51.971 seconds just 0.616 seconds behind the winning time posted by Lloyd.

The Modified Live event also featured the first instalment of the Knockhill E-Calendar girls competition. 4 Lucky girls were chosen by the voting public and will now go through to feature on the 2011 calendar. They will be joined by another 8 girls who will be chosen at other modified car events at Knockhill throughout 2010.
