Knockhill says thanks to all at the BSB

Michael Rutter came out victor in the first (and only) British Superbike race today at Knockhill and took a double as he also won the prestigieous Steve Hislop Trophy for setting the fastest lap. In a day of extremely changeable conditions, organisers were forced to cancel the second BSB race as winds speeds picked up making conditions unsuitable for the riders.

BSB Series Director and Race Director Stuart Higgs called a Team Meeting with representatives from the circuit present and discussed the weather, having just had a 5 bike smash at the first corner. It was agreed by all that conditions were just not suitable to continue, bringing to an end to the weekends action.

Events Director Stuart Gray was in the meeting, together with Circuit Manger Ian Forrest and agreed and thanked the Teams for their efforts in the action that was able to take place during the day. Stuart then announced to all the loyal spectators that the meeting had been abandoned for the day.

“We would like to thank and praise every specatator, marshal, rider and official for putting on such an amazing day of action given the conditions. We have expreienced extreme conditions today, but despite that,  the 1000’s present have seen some of the best racers in Europe at Knockhill.

“Thanks to eveyone, and thanks to to Ian, the Knockhill groundstaff and operations team for preparing the venue so well, but today, Mother Nature was not on our side. If everyone keeps their ticket, they can get £5 off our first ever Grand Prix Sidecar event, so we hope to see everyone back again on August the 15th.”
