Scottish Motorshow almost upon us!

Build up to the Official Scottish Motorshow this weekend is in full swing, with all the top stars already here. Knockhill Events Director, Stuart Gray took some time out from his busy schedule to assemble some of this year’s top cars for a small photo opportunity.

The new models from Land Rover, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes, Nissan, Infiniti and a guest appearance from Reg Vardy’s, ‘Hamish the Highland Cow’ all lined the Knockhill holding area (below).

Stuart said: “It’s an impressive line up of cars, some of which will have there first showing here this weekend.

“I particularly like the Alfa 8C Spider, it’s just a dream to drive, it made an appearance last year and to see it back in full glory is just superb. I’d be happy to take any of these models home tonight, even Hamish.”

One of the major attractions this year is the A1 GP car demo and unofficial lap record attempt. Top motorsport team P1 have been testing at Knockhill ahead of the Monaco GP later this month. Chief track marshal, Sandy Forrest has been watching the team lap by lap and reckons the lap time could go.

“They are consistently doing sub 44 second laps, given a good run and favourable weather conditions it could just go. It’s going to be close though as these guys are flat out. The quickest yet has been a 43.3 and the drivers are well capable of squeezing a few hundredths more out the car,” commented Sandy.

The Scottish Motorshow is seen as a real family event with plenty of entertainment on offer throughout the weekend including:

– Supercars, Classic Cars, Bikes & Trucks
– Kevin Carmichael & Miss Scotland Finalists
– Terry Grant Stunt Driving & Ford Display Team
– Free Track & 4×4 Rides, Teen Drive & More

– New GREEN / ECO Zone including the Nissan Leaf
– Special exhibits including a Ford WRC Rally Car
