Record entry for Bike Racing run by Knockhill Motor Sports Club

SATURDAY 25th  JUNE

Scotland’s first ever one day bike meeting on a Saturday will have the biggest entry level yet for the Knockhill Motor Sports Club event this Saturday on 25th June.

The Clubman Class has seen the biggest growth in numbers with almost 30 bikes entered.   Graham Duncan from Glasgow leads the way in the Championship on 28 points from Richard Hughes (St Boswells) and Knockhill Circuit Owner Derek Butcher in third position on 21 points.

The hotly contested Superbikes Class, supported by BMW Motorrad Central has Bruce Birnie already edging ahead after his trio of victories at the last round.  He currently has a massive 40 point lead over Michael Robertson (Danderhall) with Donald MacFadyen (Inverness) in 3rd.  In the Superstock 600 class, again supported by Motorrad Central, Mike McLean has a 50 point lead over Roy Houston who put in a storming performance with two wins and a second place as he hopes to overcome McLeans lead.

Sidecars will make their first appearance at a Knockhill Club meeting in 2011 as they compete for the prestigious Steve Webster Trophy.  The 10 times World Champion has donated a special trophy that he won during his illustrious career, making it an extra special award for the riders to go for. Scott Lawrie and James Neave will be hot favourites as they landed a second place at the prestigious Superbike meeting last weekend, before enduring gear selection problems in their second race. Lawrie is a previous champion and will have his eye on the Webster Trophy.  Picture below shows the pair in action last weekend:
