Scotland’s press gather to sample Knockhill’s latest circuit.

The most significant development in Scottish motorsport for the past forty years took place at Knockhill today (Thursday 22nd March). Scotland’s top journalists flocked to Fife for the official unveiling of the Knockhill Reverse Circuit.

Knockhill now holds a unique place within UK motorsport, as being the only track in the country that can be raced in both directions. The new MSA license allows Knockhill to host car and bike racing events in either direction, the licence also extends to trackdays and driving experiences. Which will allow the general public to sample the thrill of Scotland’s newest track.

Scottish Touring Car star Gordon Shedden:

“It’s fantastic that Scotland has a new race track and I can’t wait to see the circuit in use for all the activities and events at Knockhill.

“As a driver, the new layout has so many challenges. Clark’s in reverse direction is amazing, the chicane is so like the famous corkscrew corner at Laguna Seca and then powering up the hill and launching through what will be the last corner is completely alien.”

New reverse direction activities will be phased in from April onwards and we anticipate that 25% of all on-track activity will be in Reverse direction over the coming years.

Another eager competitor to sample the reverse track today was British Superbike rider, Dennis Hobbs and his reaction was a positive one:

“It’s mega, it just feels completely different. The back section is really quick and flowing, there are a lot of fast blind entries which just put a smile on your face. The whole lap feels quicker… it will be interesting to see the times when competition time arrives.”

The first reverse direction activity has already been pencilled into the Knockhill calendar. Hot Hatch customers will be the first to sample the circuit on Tuesday 29th May. The 2 hour session starting a 6pm and finishing at 8pm will be open to 40 vehicles. Bookings can be made via our trackdays section now, costing £60.00 per driver.

Stay tuned to the Knockhill website for further reverse direction announcements.
