ROAD SAFETY SCOTLAND BACK THE OFFICIAL SCOTTISH MOTOR SHOW

The organisers of the Official Scottish Motor Show at Knockhill on June 16th/ 17thare delighted to announce that Road Safety Scotland is backing the event this year. Within the expanded Road Safety Zone, visitors to the show can check out their reaction times and driving skills and get some advice on how to stay safe on the road from road safety experts in Fife including the Fire and Rescue Service, Safety Camera Partnership, Road Safety Unit and Road Policing Department who have teamed up with Road Safety Scotland for this year’s show. The theme of thir display will promote the road safety message “Race on the track, stay safe on the road”.

Michael McDonnell, Director of Road Safety Scotland, said: “The Scottish Motor Show is an opportunity for us to engage with drivers and remind them of the risks that they face on Scotland’s roads, which can be extremely unpredictable.  Drivers need to vary their speed depending on a number of factors including the weather, road conditions, and personal issues such as tiredness. Ultimately, we’re asking drivers to drive at an appropriate speed on the road, and recognise that you don’t have to be speeding to be driving too fast.  We’ll be on hand at the Scottish Motor Show, along with our road safety partners in Fife, offering advice on how drivers can achieve this.”

Knockhill Managing Director, Jillian Shedden said, “We are delighted that Road Safety Scotland has chosen the Motor Show, the largest motoring event in Scotland and our largest event of the year to promote their valuable safety messages. We have 100,000s of visitors a year to Knockhill and with RSS’s involvement, the road safety message will be promoted at the event and trackside throughout the year. We are hoping for a bumper attendance this year as the event has been moved to Father’s Day weekend in June and we are really promoting the great family day out aspects of the Show, so the safety messages will be seen by both current drivers and drivers of the future.”
