Mid season entertainment at Knockhill with Beatson’s Building Supplies

The Knockhill Motor Sports Club returns with an action packed line up of racing this weekend for the Beatson’s Building Supplies race day. It’s the first Knockhill Club organised car meeting of the year and we invite you all to Knockhill on Sunday 8th July from 12.30pm onwards, for what should be a thrilling 9 race programme.

The format features some amalgamated classes, which will add to the interest and a real ‘lucky dip’ feel to the racing. The fastest cars on the bill will be some Radical Sports cars running alongside the Modified Sports and Saloons. Knockhill regulars Garry Watson (Westfield), Joe Shuttleton (Subaru P1) and Nissan Skyline driver, Fiona Kindness will be looking to fend off the super-fast Radical sports cars (which could challenge the outright lap record) and her husband Adam, who competes in the same class with his Subaru Impreza. To give you an idea, Radical ace Colin Noble kindly brought his Radical for a play around Knockhill last weekend and subsequently posted a mighty impressive 50.9 second lap, see the video above!

Now if you’ve attended Knockhill in the past and wondered to yourself what would happen if classes were combined? Well this weekend is your chance to find out, running in the same class will be Mini Coopers, Fiestas and Classic Sports and Saloons. It’s a really diverse class and it will be interesting to see if Tom Wilson’s old Ford Escort Mk1 can outstrip its newer contemporaries.

Two of the most competitive racing classes on the day will be the American “Hot Rod” styled Legends and single seater racing from the Formula Ford 1600 competitors. All the leading names in the Formula Ford scene have entered, including Ali Dow, Ross McEwan and Michael Gray, so the Formula Ford racers are sure to provide two strong races.

Racing starts at 12.30pm, tickets can be purchased in advance and can also be purchased on the gate at the event. The reduced adult admission is £10 with concessions costing £5 and programmes are free. Remember kids under 12 go free and family tickets are also available.
