Three members of the Calder family looking for British Sprint victory

This weekend’s MSA British Sprint Championship and Super Lap Scotland event will see three members of the Calder family take to the Knockhill track looking to out-perform their fellow family members.

Dad, Colin, will be hoping to fend off his two hard-charging daughters, Heather and Louise Calder. Colin, has the upper hand this season; he heads to Knockhill as the current Championship leader, whilst daughter Heather is close behind occupying 2nd opposition in the Championship, only 5 points adrift of her father. Interestingly the honours around Knockhill are even, following a victory apiece at the corresponding round last year; Colin claiming victory on the Reverse track and Heather on the traditional International Circuit. That should make things very interesting this weekend, especially when you consider that the pair drive the same Gould GR55 racer; which ultimately means that victory will go to the person who can get the most from the car on track, making them the ‘BEST’ driver in the household.

Not to be content to sit and watch from the sidelines, Heather’s younger sister Louise will also be taking to the track in a single seat racer of her very own; no doubt with the aim of up-staging her more experienced family members.

Looking ahead to the weekend Colin Calder said:

“We are really looking forward to coming back to Knockhill this weekend. Apart from it being our closest round in The British Sprint Championship; for us it is a fantastic opportunity to do a challenging track in both directions in one weekend. I don’t know anywhere else you can do that!”

Heather Calder admits that the family are certainly ‘petrol heads’, but she’ll still be looking for victory come the weekend.

“I’ll be trying my best to get the better of both my sister and my dad,” she said.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance via the Knockhill website (pre-booking discounts available) and will also be available on the gate over the weekend.
