Terry Grant confirms stunt performances at McRae Rally Challenge event

Proving that there will be something for everyone at the ‘McRae Rally Challenge’ supported by Beatsons’ Building Supplies and EventScotland in May at Knockhill, there will be an appearance by one of the world’s top stunt car drivers – Terry Grant.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Terry is planning a brand new stunt for the Knockhill event. His current tarmac tricks include spins, do-nuts, j-turns, extreme parking (you have to see it to believe it) and driving cars on two wheels, plus other auto-manic mischief.

An established and regular attraction at Knockhill events, Terry will attempt to carve another notch on his gearstick by driving round the full 1.3 mile circuit in his Monster Energy backed Mitsubishi Lancer – on two wheels.

“I have been performing two-wheeled stunts for years, and have managed the same trick at other circuits” said Terry, “but this will be different and very difficult. Knockhill is the most ‘hilly’ circuit in the UK. The drop down Duffus will be daunting, the approach and run through the Esses will have to be made blind because I won’t be able to see the track, and even the hairpin will be quite tricky because it is very tight and steep.”

“I will be doing this in memory of Colin,” he added, “we used to mess about at the Race of Champions and such stuff. I did this trick once with Colin in the passenger seat and he climbed out of the window – while I was driving the car along on two wheels.”

Terry will be appearing on both days of the festival, so that will give him two attempts at a rather unique ‘lap record’.
