The BTCC is Britain’s premier tin-top racing series and has such a broad appeal, in part due to the popularity of the cars on show – racing versions of family saloon cars you see on the roads each day. The realisation that competitors are out racing on track in the same makes and models of car that fans travel to and from the venue in, is a rarity in modern motorsport; and it’s that realisation that encourages the general public to contemplate venturing on track themselves.
Our Car Trackday Club Membership Card is a brilliant solution if you fancy swapping the sidelines for a slot on track. For just £49 membership you can enjoy 10% discount off every trackday you book in to, fast-track sign on and many more benefits, including a free tracknight to kick off the season. With up 30 Trackday/Tracknights every year, there is plenty of opportunity at Knockhill to take your motorsport enthusiasm that one step further.
Ok, so making the step to track driving might be quite intimidating for some people, but at Knockhill we have a few solutions that might help with that transition – and best of all you can save £25 off if you book during your visit to the BTCC (Driving Experiences and Driver Coaching only – excludes Gordon Shedden Experience).
Our Performance Driving Course (£165) pairs you with a Knockhill ARDS qualified instructor for some full-on track tuition behind the wheel of your own car. It’s a great way to dip your toe in the water before venturing on track with 30 other trackday drivers. Your track sessions will include assessment laps, demonstration laps by your instructor and 2 x 10 laps of intensive coaching. Your coach will then debrief you about your driving sessions and offer feedback and advice about progressing your on-track activities.
For those looking for a more in-depth grounding, our Driver Coaching classes have proved highly popular. With 2 hour, half day and full day options available, all geared to build confidence, consistency and technique; these courses really are an excellent tool for increasing your on-track speed and reducing those all-important lap times – pricing from £275.
And for the hardcore BTCC aficionado, you can also join Honda Yuasa racing driver Gordon Shedden on track to learn the skills and techniques that took Gordon to the 2012 British Touring Car Championship title. As well as 30 intense laps behind the wheel of a Lotus Exige sportscar, Gordon will also spend some time analysing your session data to offer advice and tips on how to achieve that ultimate lap. Gordon will also take you on a whirlwind spin around the Circuit with him behind the wheel – cost £499.
To secure your discount and to find out more about the Driving Experience courses available at Knockhill, make sure you pop into the Circuit Office during your visit to BTCC.
But first, you’ll need to book some tickets to what promises to be one of the stand-out events at Knockhill this year. As well as booking online (subject to advanced discounts), tickets will also be available at the gate throughout the weekend.
