Important 2016 BSB Spectator Info

It’s not long now until the return of the awesome MCE British Superbike Championship to Scotland for their annual race at Knockhill. If you have bought your tickets, or you are still to buy them, here is some information so that you can make your visit as great as possible. We have invested heavily in the venue with a new 2-lane road access and exit route at the hairpin, together with an awesome new spectator viewing banking, added two new shelters at Duffus Dip and Scotsman Corners as well as numerous other improvements, so tell your friends and family and we look forward to welcoming you all to this amazing event.

Important BSB spectator and travel info!

Tickets for all three days of the event can be bought on line up to midnight the day before each day. For example, Saturday or the full weekend tickets can be booked until midnight Friday via our website (discounted advance prices). Weekend tickets can be purchased at the gate on Saturday at a slightly higher rate, the special discount is for online advance booking only by Friday midnight. Phone orders can also be taken on 01383 723337 during normal working hours. Tickets for Sunday (main race day) can be booked until midnight on Saturday (discounted advance prices).

Alternatively all tickets will be available at the gate on all three days with the on the day prices applicable.

If you have bought in advance, then all tickets bought via the website or phone (01383 723337) will be posted out up until midday on the Wednesday prior to the event, thereafter the tickets will be held in ‘Ticket Collection’, located on the hairpin gate approach road. Kids under 12 do not require a ticket, they are FREE.

Ticket types:

· Adult – Over 16 years
· Concession – 12 to 16 years, OAP, Disabled, Student (with photo ID)
· Family – 2 Adults + 2 Concession (not required if children are under 12 years)

Children under 12 – Free at all events

Gate Opening Times

Friday | Gates open @ 8am
Saturday | Gates open @7.30am | Free Pit Walk @ 12.10pm
Sunday | Gates open @ 7am | Free Pit Walk @ 11.50am | Free Music & Track Walk 6.15pm

Pitwalk – NEW FOR 2016 – FREE PIT WALK.

There is no charge this year for the pitwalk on the Saturday and Sunday of the event. There will be a queueing system in place. The pitwalk times are Sat – 12.10pm Sun – 11.50am. Please note that a limited number will be allowed access on a first come first served basis.

How to get here!

Knockhill Racing Circuit is located on the A823, for SATNAV our postcode is KY12 9TF
If travelling from East/South, head to Junction 4, M90 Kelty.
If travelling from West, please head over the new Clackmannan Bridge and head on the A977 and turn tight at Powmill.

If heading from the North, M90 motorway signs will say exit Junction 6, you can also head to Junction 4 as an alternative route.

All routes have Tourist Board direction signage.

Taxi Drop Offs

The drop off area for taxi’s etc. Will be next to the TICKET COLLECTION POINT, this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Pedestrians should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets / display passes.

Arriving at the Circuit

All traffic on Friday & Saturday will enter the venue via the main drive.

On Sunday there are two entrance points in operation. Most traffic travelling from the West (via Kincardine Bridge, Perthshire) will enter via the main drive, unless disabled or on a motorcycle, all vehicle access to the circuit is through the hairpin gate (Gate A). Traffic from the East (Edinburgh, Dunfermline) will enter via Gate D at Scotsman corner. EXCEPTIONS – traffic must NOT enter via Gate D if you have an official vehicle pass, you hold a VIP or season vehicle pass, if you are on a motorcycle, if you are disabled or you have tickets to collect at Ticket Collection. If you are travelling from the East and your situation is listed in the Exceptions list you should enter via the main drive and follow the signs.

TICKET COLLECTION spectators must enter via the main drive only and head for the collection point which is clearly signed.]

PARKING

All parking is on site. NEW for 2016 – we have created a new entrance road at the hairpin gate which allows 2 lanes of traffic, this should mean a quicker entrance and exit.

DISABLED PARKING – We have a limited number of disabled parking spaces on the main straight.

. Please follow the directions from the stewards, they are there to assist and will get you in and out of the venue as soon as they can.

Please clearly display any passes, disabled car passes, season passes as visibly as possible.

Please also ensure you have your money ready if you are paying at the gate to help speed up the entry process.

When you park up please take notice of the car park signage to identify where you have parked your car.

The Weather

As we are an outdoor venue, please dress appropriately for the forecast and we advise to wear trainer type or outdoor shoes

Souvenir Programmes

Our quality event programmes can be purchased online with tickets or at the entrance when you arrive. They are packed with event info and features and are only £5. The programme will feature a 4 page spread on the success of Scots bike racing as well as coverage of the great season that the next generation of the Mackenzie family are achieving this season.

Special Feature – Scots in the Superbikes

Visit the Champions Clubhouse to see a tribute to the Scottish riders who have made their mark on the national and international bike racing scene. We have a very special exhibit of3 times Champion Niall Mackenzie’s Cadbury Boost Yamaha on show together with a display featuring many of the top riders who have featured over the last 3 decades of racing. It is free to pop into the Clubhouse and see the display which will be open on both Saturday and Sunday.

After Show Party – Live music and track walk

Following the success of last years live music and track invasion – we are doing it all over again. As soon as poosible after the last race of the day, we will be opening the gates near the Champions Clubhouse so that you can walk on the very tarmac that only minutes earlier riders were competing on at speeds of up to 180mph. You are welcome to talk the entire track, free, or why not stay at the hairpin and enjoy a set from one of the worlds top Blondie tribute bands, Dirty Harry, playing up to an hour of Blondie’s top hits. It’s a great way to unwind after the adrenaline action on track all day, watch, listen and even have a wee dance if you want to before heading to your car or bike to head home. Let the traffic subside to the sound of Denise Denise, Atomic and lots of other classic Blondie tracks.

General Information

· Knockhill FM broadcasts on 87.7FM and will be on-air all weekend.
· If you wish to Text the Tower for a shout out, you can do so via 07941 808552
· All routes to Knockhill will be very busy this weekend. Please give yourself appropriate time to get to the Circuit. There will be delays, but hopefully we can keep these to a minimum with your help and co-operation.
· No Pets or Animals will be allowed entry to the venue, please ensure you leave them at home and not left in the car.
· The Circuit Office will be open Sat 8am – 6pm and Sunday 7.30am to 6pm if you need any help or assistance, you can pop in or call on 01383 723337.
· Trades stands are located at the hairpin and main straight.
· Official Knockhill Merchandise is available at the circuit office and a display is at the hairpin trade area.
· Mobile Food Outlets are located throughout the venue as well as our onsite restaurants, Champions Clubhouse and Kinnaird’s restaurant.
· Arrive and Drive Karting will be operating for Kids 8yrs plus and Adults throughout the weekend from just £10 for 10 minutes, visit the Karting Centre for the timetable and full Info.

Exiting

When leaving the site and turning on to the A823 there be no restriction on the direction of travel, you will be able to turn left or right out of the circuit, you must drive carefully as there will be queueing traffic and traffic light control. If you are on a motorcycle do not attempt to leave via Scotsman’s gate as the roadway is very steep, use the alternative exit as signposted.
