BTCC at Knockhill only 25 days away

25DaysToGo

We’re 15 races into the 2016 season and with only 25 days to go until the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship event at Knockhill, sponsored by Lokring Northern UK; we thought we’d give you this quick reminder about booking your tickets to see the UK’s premier motorsport Championship right here on 13/14 August.

Matt Neal (no.25 coincidently) and Gordon Shedden have had an up and down season so far; both have tasted podium success with the duo finishing on the podium eight times between them; Neal has taken two wins and three other podiums, whilst Shedden has taken one solitary win and two further second place finishes so far this year. And incredibly for Shedden, he’s finished outside the points on six separate outings this year, a far cry from the consistent form that propelled him to the 2105 title.

That said however, the 2016 Championship has been extremely competitive and no one has been able to stamp any kind of authority on the series so far. Indeed, there have been ten different race winners spread across seven different teams, with West Surrey Racing duo of Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard currently occupying P1 and P2 on the Championship standings. Matt Neal follows in third with former champions Gordon Shedden and Colin Turkington languishing in P9 and P11 respectively, for the moment anyway.

The event itself promises to be a enthralling weekend long encounter that will see a healthy 15 race programme take place over the two days. An excellent support packing including Porsche, Ginetta and MSA Formula will keep fans entertained in between three pulsating BTCC races; featuring some of the top names in BTCC racing – Neal, Shedden, Plato, Turkington and Jordan; with some rising stars thrown into the mix for good measure in the shape of Aiden Moffat, Tom Ingram and Ashley Sutton.

Off track, three big screens will keep race fans tuned to all the action on track around practically the whole site. Merchandise and trade stands will allow fans to purchase those all-important team colours; whilst, our touch-the-track and live music events take place on track following the final race on Sunday 14th August – everyone is welcome to attend.

We’ve also made a number of improvements to the venue, a new spectator banking at the Hairpin will afford race fans a panoramic view all the way from Clark’s through to the start-finish straight – a great place to watch a full grid (32 cars) of BTCC stars race flat out through three of the most action-packed sections on the Knockhill track. Additionally, new exit roads and spectator shelters have been installed at busy spots throughout the venue, with the aim of improving your overall BTCC raceday experience.

We’ll also have a number of Super Tourers on display, doffing our caps to the iconic BTCC era of the 80s and 90s – ahead of our own Super Touring Car festival event on 10/11 September.

The series rolls into Snetterton on 30/31 July before venturing North to join us on 13/14 August. Tickets for the Knockhill round can be found on sale now via the Knockhill website, with advanced booking discounts available on all pre-booked tickets (adults can save £5 per ticket against the on-the-day price). You can also book by calling on 01383 723337 and our friendly team will take care of all your ticket requirements.

We’ll make no bones about it, this is one of the best race events you’ll see in Scotland this year, make sure you’re part of it by booking your tickets now.
