Welcome home champs – Taylor and Tarran Mackenzie!

The newest British Championship-winning members of the Mackenize clan rocked up to Knockhill today (Tuesday 18th October) to participate in the Niall Mackenize Superbike School, ably flanked by Isle of Man TT supremo, John McGuinness and all-round bike racing legend, Niall Mackenzie.

We’d spoken to Taylor and Taz throughout the year as their British Championship title hopes gathered momentum, in particular following two impressive displays at Knockhill, where both riders crossed the finishing line ahead of impressive fields in the Superstock 1000 and Supersport Championship races respectively – with Taylor’s win later being rescinded courtesy of a post-race penalty… but we won’t worry about that now.

Both lads, went on to secure their respective Championships – in Taylor’s case all was secured at Donington Park following another fine performance on his Buildbase BMW, whilst Taz, had to wait to the penultimate race of the season to grab enough points to pip James Westmoreland to the 2016 Dickies British Supersport title – finishing the season off in fine style with another race winning performance at the Brands Hatch Showdown.

Anyway, we sent our intrepid commentator/reporter/presenter Duncan Vincent into the paddock to catch up with the winning duo – whilst also plotting to douse the pair in champagne following said interview. However, Duncan let the cat out the bag and the four bottles of champagne were quickly pointed in his direction.

Check out the video with Taylor and Taz’s interviews and of course Dunc V unceremoniously being put to the sword for spilling the beans.

Congrats, once again from all at Knockhill to Taylor and Taz on their British Championship success. And, long may it continue.
