Catch up with double BTCC Champion Jason Plato

Much like last year, Jason Plato and his BMR Subaru squad headed to Knockhill without a win, and the same scenario prevails this time around, with the double BTCC champion yet to register a win so far in 2017. However, much like last year, write the vastly experienced Touring Car ace off at your peril.

Cue 500 races into Plato’s career and the inevitable… if unlikely scenario given his form heading into Knockhill took place; securing pole position on the Saturday and streaking away to win the opening encounter on Sunday. Indeed, Plato walked away from the 2016 Knockhill round with his biggest points haul of the season and you’d be foolish to say that the same scenario couldn’t unfold on 12/13 August. Interestingly, the Knockhill track tends to be a good hunting ground for rear-wheel-drive machinery like Plato’s Levorg and there will be no-doubt that the upcoming three races will be must-wins for the likes of Plato, Sutton, Turkington, Jordan and Collard if they are to sustain a genuine Championship challenge in 2017.

Our intrepid reporter Duncan Vincent caught up with Plato at the start of the year and here’s what he had to say about Knockhill.

Remember, we are just4 days away from one of the biggest events at Knockhill this year. Make sure you join us for what will be an enthralling weekend of motorsport action at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre.
