Despite posting the quickest time of the day during testing at Knockhill on Tuesday 26th June, Leon Haslam and his JG Speedfit Kawasaki team’s attentions are firmly fixed on continuing a recent run of form that has saw the Kawasaki rider claim the last five Bennetts BSB race wins on-the-trot.
Haslam, missed last year following a high-side during one of the early free practice sessions at Knockhill, but came back strong to challenge Shane Byrne for the title at the Brands Hatch decider late last year. This year however, Haslam heads the field heading to Knockhill by 64 points ahead of young-gun Brad Ray.
Shane Byrne sits third in the standings at the moment; however, it’s not known when he will return following a serious injury lay off. The chasing pack includes Jake Dixon, Glenn Irwin and Josh Brookes who enjoyed some podium success at the last round – including rubbing handle bars with Haslam on the way to the finish line last time out.
Whatever happens at Knockhill on 6/7/8 July – one thing is for sure – times will be fast and the action will be frantic.
