Rockstar Energy Chase Series – Round 3 Highlights

It’s been a great first year to the Rockstar Energy Chase Series, with a number of SLS competitors taking their first foray into the world of side-by-side car racing. It’s been terrific to watch from the sidelines as drivers, in various vehicles deal with the challenges of full-blown racing.

So let’s catch up with the action from Round 3 that took place on Sunday 22nd July.

Testament to all those drivers who have taken part and embraced the unique time-aggregated format of the Chase Series race. It was a major statement from the Championship to roll out a completely different format for a car-racing event at the beginning of the year and we’re delighted by the way in which the SLS paddock has embraced the concept and ran with it.

As envisaged, the race has provided plenty of entertainment for armchair spectators, with plenty of overtaking maneuvers and some real hammer-and-tongs tussles between the classes. It’s been fascinating to watch drivers battle for track position whilst still trying to maintain optimum laps times for that chance of aggregated victory.

It’s also been a great leveller, with the opening rounds of the season being won by our least powerful Class E and F members. We’re starting to see the higher classes creep up the order now as we head into the final round of the season, so who knows, we might have yet another SLS Class winning this weekend.

Over the winter, there may be a few tweaks to the series here and there, but overall we are delighted with the Series’ first year and look forward to many more Chase races in the future.
