British Superbike Event Update

It’s with a heavy heart that today we announce the cancellation of the Bennetts British Superbike event at Knockhill, set for 10-12 July this year. As well as the cancellation of the event, we also have to announce that no rescheduled event will take place at Knockhill in 2020 and the series will instead return in 2021.

Knockhill Managing Director Jillian Shedden’s latest update:

We realise that a lot of our fans would have been looking forward to the event, and we can only apologise for any inconvenience today’s announcement may cause. Moving forward, we’re currently pulling together a system that will allow race fans to either transfer their tickets to the 2021 event, or request a refund.

We’re currently finalising the online system now and will be in touch fairly soon via email to action transfers and refunds. Additionally, fans can also opt for a credit to be used at another Knockhill event, or indeed on another Knockhill activity later in the year. However, we’d ask fans for continued patience whilst we test and implement the system, before it’s roll out over the coming days.

Despite the disappointment of not hosting a BSB event this year, we’ll be working harder than ever to ensure 2021 is a roaring success. In terms of other events at Knockhill, we’re working hard behind the scenes to arrange a calendar of events, whilst taking on board all the latest government advice, to ensure we see some form of motorsport at Knockhill this year. We’ll be making further announcements about events very soon and indeed plans for the remainder of the year and the resumption of the other activities at Knockhill.

Today’s announcement also has a knock on effect to Season Pass holders. Again, we’d ask you to be patient with us until we can announce what type of calendar we can run for the remainder of the season. Once we have this we’ll be in a better position to figure out what proportion of your entitlement has been lost and compensate you accordingly.

Today’s BSB announcement may also trigger some questions about our other big event this year  – the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on 29/30 August. At the moment we are very hopeful that a crowd will be permitted and we are liaising weekly with government agencies to keep abreast of the latest guidelines. It’s unfortunately too early for any authority to confirm a maximum crowd size for the event, however, we expect this information to become clearer in the next month.

In the meantime, again we’re sorry that the British Superbike event will not take place in 2020, and hope that the vast majority of you will understand the decision taken was out with our control.

Thanks again for your understanding and we’ll be in touch very soon with all your relevant ticket options.
