Liddell fastest at Laguna Seca

Edinburgh’s Robin Liddell posted the fastest time in GT2 pre-qualifying ahead of tomorrow’s fourth round of the American Grand-Am GT Championship at Laguna Seca, California.

The Scot, currently just three points behind championship leader, American Spencer Pumpelly, lapped the 2.3-mile circuit in 1min 27.547secs, an average of  92.028mph, in his Stevenson Pontiac GXP.R.

“I love this circuit and hopefully we can bag another victory this weekend,” Liddell, who won earlier this season in Virgina and was just 0.060s quicker than the second-placed Porsche of American Leh Keen and German Dirk Werner, said today.

“It’s tight with the Porsche guys with Werner right behind and Pumpelly third-fastest, but we believe over the race distance we’ll have the edge.”
