McRae’s Chinese puzzle ahead of Scots dash

Seventy-two hours before he starts Tuesday’s recce for the inaugural RallyScotland, which gets underway in earnest at Scone Palace on Thursday, Alister McRae today starts the final round of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship in China.

The 38-year-old from Lanark will drive his all-new Proton Satria Super 2000 in RallyChina as he limbers up for the three-day Scottish event, the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Championship.

“It’s going to be a bit helter-skelter, but I was always determined to compete in Scotland,” the former British Rally champ explained. “It’ll be great to compete in Scotland, but first i have to focus on China.

“I’ve been to China for the rally three times before but never to this event in this region. The aim this weekend is to show what the car is capable of and get a solid result for Proton. Then it’s a mad dash to Scotland.”
