Scots fly in friday support race practice

The Scots were flying today as the full quota of support races took to the track in warm up for the weekend of action under blazing blue skies. Kirkcaldys Johnny Adam was 1/1000th of a second off being quickest in the first of the sessions in the guest Ginetta G50, and kept the speed to remain 2nd in the afternoon session too.

Elesewhere, Dave Newsham demonstrated why he is hoping to tie up the Clio Championship this weekend as he was fastest and 2nd fastest in the two sessions. Rory Butcher was a strong 12th in a packed Porsche race but quickest of the older pro am2 class. Glynn Geddie showed early pace with 3rd overall but dropped to 8th in the afternoon in his Porsche, while Lewis Williamson is mid filed with two 10th places in his Formula Renault.

For the BTCC competitors, including local hero Gordon Shedden, it was a day to enjoy the sunshine as the Touring cars dont take to the track until the first of their warm up sessions at 10.05am and 12.55pm on Saturday. The shoot out for qualifying and pole position is at 3.45pm.

The Hesketh and Surtees Formula One cars have arrived too in advanced of their practice run on Saturday lunchtime and a full demo on Sunday. The two V8 engined cars will roar to life and be demostrated by Frank and Judy Lyons.

Gates open at 8am tomorrow with action from 9am. Advanced tickets are still available and at the gate on both Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 7am on Sunday with track action, including 3 BTCC races, from 9am.
