Mackenzie stars in Spain!

Taylor Mackenzie starred at his his European Motogp 125 race on Sunday by finishing an incredable 5th overall. After testing and warm ups he ended qualifying with a 16th place. His best qualifying to date, but he was struggling with tyre endurance so the team worked hard overnight to make changes for the warm up, that would hopefully improve the bike for the race. On Sunday however, when we arrived at the circuit the sky went dark, the heavens opened and it was set to be a wet morning warm up. He set out in the warm up quietly confident having had practice in the rain last year in Spanish Championship. He managed to stay in 1st postion for some of the session before slipping to 6th place before the chequered flag.
So after a positive start in the wet conditions he was hoping that it would stay wet for the race, which it did! After lap one he had made his way up to 12th position. He pushed hard to catch the group in front, he managed to maintain the gap but could only close in marginally. He kept pushing and as riders in front of him were caught out in the treacherous conditions he kept cool and with one lap to go he was up to 6th place. On the final lap Hector Faubel crashed out of 2nd place, leaving Taylor to come through to take a career best of 5th place. It was a fantastic result that he is obviously thrilled to bits with!

Estoril, Portugal next 1st of May and hopefully he can fight for another points scoring position as he carries the Knockhill logo around the world on his crash helmet painted by our own Joe Tanner of Rennat Designs at Knockhill. Go for it Taylor!
