A1 GP car at Motorshow!!

This weekend as part of the Official Scottish Motorshow, an A1GP car from top team P1 based in Norfolk will attempt to lower the unofficial Knockhill lap record on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd May.

In 2006, an ex-Rubins Barichello Ferrari Formula One car driven by Aberdonian Nathan Kinch set an astonishing unofficial lap record of 43.1 seconds. In 2010, an Arrows F1 attempted to lower the record, but ended with a spectacular engine blow up in front of 10,000 people.

Austrian racer Walter Grubmuller and Irish star Adam Carroll will be on hand to demonstrate the A1GP racer once on Saturday and again on Sunday. It is very similar to the GP2 car that will be raced at Monaco and testing at Knockhill will offer fantastic preparation ahead of the Monaco GP, as well as entertaining 20,000 spectators over the weekend.

BTCC ace Gordon Shedden, who secured the A1GP test, said “P1 are one of the top single seater teams outside of Formula One. Their drivers Walter Grubmuller from Austria and Adam Carroll are testing at Knockhill on Thursday and Friday in advance of the Monaco GP2 event, supporting the premier F1 event on May 29th. The team have raced previously at very fast low down force circuits such as Monza in Italy, but Knockhill will provide the best circuit to emulate the twists and turns of the famous principality circuit of Monte Carlo”.

The show opens at 10am both days. Adult admission £15, concessions £8, family ticket £38 and under 12’s free of charge. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the Knockhill website and a box office collection service will be in operation from 3pm today.
