Hopkins ready for Knockhill!

American Moto GP star, John Hopkins and team-mate John Kirkham where at Knockhill yesterday in preparation for the MCE British Superbike Championship round on 17/18/19 June. Both riders managed around 50 laps on the 1.3 mile circuit and for the American, it was his first glimpse of the Knockhill track.

“I had a lot of fun out there, the track has everything a rider likes, fast corners, slow corners and changes in elevation. It’s a great track to ride and when l’m having fun, l tend go pretty quick.”

During the test, Hopkins was less than a second of the lap record time which might be ominous for his fellow BSB competitors. Quizzed whether he could claim the BSB title in his first year, John replied:

“I’m employed by Samsung Crescent Suzuki to be competitive. Shane’s (Byrne) got away from us slightly in the standings, but the way the shoot out system works and the tracks we’ll be riding later in the year, means we’re pretty well placed. I’ll be giving it everything l’ve got that’s for sure.”

Hopkins and the rest of the BSB stars head to Knockhill for a new three day format from 16th June onwards.

Friday – Qualifying and Practice
Saturday – Qualifying including Superbike Q1, Q2 & Q3 and Racing
