Shane Lynch to demo his 600bhp Nissan S15 at TJC this Sunday

Irish boy-band star Shane Lynch will be at Knockhill this weekend, but far from wowing thousands of female fans on stage, he’ll be strapped inside the cockpit of his Eddie Stobart sponsored Nissan S15 hell bent on impressing the assembled masses at the inaugural Total Jap Car Scotland event.

Shane will be performing with Team Japspeed to preview the next round of the British Drifting Championship series at Knockhill on 20th and 21st August. Shane is no stranger to Knockhill and has been to the Fife circuit on several occasions over the past few years as a guest and competitor.

Shane has been competing in the British Drifting Championship since 2007 and has sampled victory as a solo competitor and also as part of a team. Indeed he cites his best achievement in the sport at Knockhill, when he and his team mate became the first ever EDC Team Champions.

Shane competed at Knockhill last year and will no doubt be looking forward to some additional practice this weekend, ahead of the real thing in August. If you’ve never seen a car drifting; it really is an awesome sight, seeing a 600bhp car practically sideways with its tyres screaming and driver wrestling his steering wheel every step of the way at 90+ miles an hour.

“I take drifting very seriously, it’s my passion. I’d love to commit more time to it but obviously my day job takes priority.

“With motor sport you are definitely on the edge, but with drifting… you’re well past the edge. That’s what l love about it. I didn’t know what cars were capable of until l started drifting,” said Shane.

The Total Jap Car Scotland event in association with Total Car Magazines will bring a mass of Japanese machinery and models to the Fife venue. There will be drag racing, drifting competitions, trade stands, club stands, karting competition and on track car sessions. We’ll even have the last ever outing for the News of the World Score Angels, who’ll compete against the Knockhill Calendar Girls in a series of fun challenges.

Action gets underway from 9am, tickets for the event can be purchased via the Knockhill website and for those of you interested in tacking your own car on track, sessions can be booked via our Trackdays section.
