Shedden delights home crowd with Honda win!

Honda Racing star Gordon Shedden took victory in race 2 from his team-mate Matt Neal with Frank Wrathall in third. Both Neal and Shedden had to be patient in the race which looked all set to be dominated yet again by Tom Chilton. However, Chilton made a mistake whilst leading which let both Neal and Shedden through into the lead. Chilton eventually finished 4th but will be disappointed to have let his lead slip.

Once in front, Neal looked comfortable and you feared Shedden wouldn’t be able to get past the BTCC veteran. But Neal had an awkward moment after coming off the John R Weir chicane slightly wide and Shedden had the momentum to slip up the inside just in time for the right hander at Clark’s. After a brief attack from Neal, Shedden began to pull away and enjoyed a fairly incident free ride to the finish.

“A home win is just awesome, Matt had a moment and l had to take advantage,” beamed Shedden.

“It has been a mega weekend for me so far and a bucket-load of points for Honda too, it’s all good. Looking forward to the final race now, no predictions, but l’ll be trying my hardest for another podium finish.”

Shedden now leap-frogs Neal at the top of the Championship Standings and takes a three point advantage going into the final race. BTCC action continues at 5.05pm this afternoon with the third and final race of the day. Jason Plato will be on pole for the final race whilst Neal and Shedden line up 6th and 7th respectively. Action is live on ITV4 and online via ITV.com.
