Grant Construction Rally Returns

2012 will kick-off with one of the most spectacular events that Knockhill hosts with the second running of the Grant Construction Rally on Sunday 8th January.

An anticipated 60 cars are expected to enter this unique rally covering 8 stages and almost 35 competition stage miles. The event will be the opening round of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship, the Scottish Border Rally Championship and the Border Ecosse Club Championship. Last year the entry list boasted Metro 6R4s, Evo 9s, Subaru Turbos as well as the classic Escort MK1 and 2, Opal Asconas and even a Volvo.

Ten inches of snow fell at last year’s event making the challenge for the drivers, crews and spectators even more interesting. Events Director Stuart Gray said:

“Hats off to the Border Ecosse crew last year in such extreme conditions. We had 5 inches of snow on the set up day, then another 5 fell overnight and we were all greeted to a positive winter wonderland where the track was invisible, but they pulled off an amazing event. Word has got about and a full entry of 60 cars is expected so I can’t wait. To see Knockhill used in this way is just fantastic with up to 6 rally cars visible at any given time, you just don’t know where to look”.

The first car is due off at 8.30am with action all the way through to darkness.
