Paton secures pole for Superbike opener!

Motorpoint British Supersport Championship competitor David Paton secured pole position for the opening Scottish Superbike Championship race later today. The Double ‘M’ Racing star lapped the 1.3 mile championship circuit in a time of 51.551 seconds to take pole by 0.170 seconds.

Paton will line up alongside Andrew Tasker and 2011 KMSC Champion Bruce Birnie on the front row. Tasker in only his 2nd season competing onboard his Kawasaki ZX10R compiled a time of 51.721 to take the 2nd grid position. Birnie, who lines up 3rd, will have his work cut out this afternoon if he is to start his title defence with a win aboard his BMWS1000RR.

Elsewhere there were pole position wins for Lewis Rollo (F125), Lee Naylor (Pre Inj 600), Kershaw & Wilson (Sidecars), Tom Robinson (F400), James Laing (Clubman), Jed Heath (Post Classic Senior) and Ewan Hamilton (Post Classic Junior).

In the other Scottish Championship classes it was young Haddington racer Paul McClung who secured pole in the Scottish Supertwin Championship. Following McClung into 2nd and 3rd respectively were knockhill based Eddie Stone and Crieff’s Harry Pullar. Daniel Kinloch secured pole slot for the opening Scottish Superstock 600 race with Michael Robertson (2nd) and Liam Shellcock (3rd).

Racing action will start around 1.20pm this afternoon and continue for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we’ll have a full racing programme starting from 9am. Advance tickets are available for tomorrow until midnight tonight (box office collection). Entry for the remainder of this afternoon is only £5 (adults), so why not head up and watch some of Scotland’s best racers in action!
