All shapes and sizes of Ford vehicles converged on Knockhill today to take part in the annual Ford Live event. Organised in association with the Central & East, and North East of Scotland RS Owners’ Clubs. The event, served under a dry and sunny Knockhill had plenty of entertainment for all who ventured to Fife this weekend. Running alongside our regular Hot Hatch event, we had a drifting demo by Team Scotdrift, plenty of show cars and we even saw a spot of drag racing.
Fittingly it was the Sierra Cosworth of Zander Horne who came up trumps in the drag racing, disposing of the Datsun Sunny of Gary Henshaw in the final. Charlie Shaw took to the circuit to demo his super-quick Ford Focus RS, Charlie was also providing passenger laps with all proceeds going to charity. We’re pretty sure there will be a few people reliving those laps over-and-over in their minds tonight.
British Touring Car driver, Gordon Shedden also took some time to sample the machinery on display today, commenting:
“I’ve seen a couple of stunning Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts out there, l’m well into those.”
The special Ford event saw an unprecedented 120 pre-booked drivers for Sunday’s track sessions. Mixed in amongst the dedicated Ford sessions we saw a wide range of vehicles taking to the track, including models from Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Vauxhall and Peugeot. Over the course of the season we will be hosting similar themed Hot Hatch events for Japanese and French cars. Hopefully all the clubs and enthusiasts will turn up en-mass to rival today’s event.
The next modified event at Knockhill, comes in the shape of Modified Live on Sunday 10th June. Alongside the regular Time Attack and EDC attractions, there will be a few additions this year, including Honda Civic Cup and Pick-up Truck racing.
