Mackenzie jnr. ups the ante just in time for Superbikes

Club President, Niall Mackenzie was more than just an interested spectator at Knockhill this weekend, as his youngest son Tarran had entered into the KMSC125 class. Much like in the other classes, there were a few British GP riders looking to familiarise themselves with Knockhill before they return as part of the Superbike event later this month. Mackenzie was joined by fellow Monster Energy Motostar British Championship riders Catherine Green, Joe Francis and Ryan Watson.

However, it would be Mackenzie junior who would out-perform his fellow competitors, securing two race wins, the first of his career. Mackenzie will be in confident mood heading into the British Championship races later this month. He has been on a roll of late, securing his best finish to date last time out and will now be looking forward to his home round with genuine belief that he can do something special at Knockhill.

Young Scottish rider, Lewis Rollo also took the step up in competition in his stride. The talented youngster managed to get himself in amongst the GP riders and the points, securing two podiums in the process (3rd & 2nd). In the battle of the F125 bikes, newcomer Kai Johnston set the heather alight with a superb display, piping Jason Vernon on the last lap of the final race to secure a much deserved win.

Knockhill Motor Sports Club bike racing returns later this year but for now, all our attention focuses on the other major events coming up this month. First up it’s the Official Scottish Motorshow in association with Road Safety Scotland on the 16th and 17th. The following weekend sees the MCE British Superbikes roll in for a 3 day bike racing extravaganza. Superbikes, Supersport, Superstock 600/1000, Motostar GP125s, FIM Sidecars and a guest appearance from the highly entertaining Scottish Superstock 600 racers should make for a superb action-packed event.
