Laing, Butcher and Bryce go head to head once again!

Scottish Championship and Knockhill Motor Sports Club racing returns this weekend with a bumper two-day race meeting. In all, 30 races will take place on the International 1.3 mile circuit over the course of Saturday and Sunday.

We’ll have action from Scottish Superbikes, Scottish Supertwin and Scottish Superstock 600 races, starring alongside a number of Knockhill Club series including, Clubman, MiniTwin, F400, KMSC 125, Classics, Sidecars and Pre-Injection 600.

A number of riders will be returning to Knockhill after appearing on the programme at the Official BSB round back in June. Youngsters, Sean and Greg Gilfillan shared all three victories between them that weekend and will be looking to match that performance in the Superstock 600 class. The Crossgates duo though, will need to look out for Bryan Duncanson the current Scottish Superstock 600 leader, Liam Shellcock and the ever-improving Chris Cook.

In the Clubman Championship it looks like it will be a three-horse race, with newcomer, Jim Laing sweeping into a commanding championship lead ahead of 2011 Clubman Champion, Derek Butcher and Milngavie racer, Alan Bryce. Laing has sealed an impressive 5 race wins already this year, a remarkable achievement by the Kawasaki rider, given that this is also his debut season. Although Laing, will be well aware that both, Butcher and Bryce are well capable of taking victory should he start to get complacent.

In the Scottish Superbike series, young Clackmannan rider Andrew Tasker heads into this weekend buoyed by an impressive outing at East Fortune last time out. Tasker managed to take his first race win of the year and subsequently close the gap on Championship leader Bruce Birnie to a mere 10 points. Scone racer, Torquil Parterson also seems to be hitting form at the right time. He also scored a race win last time out and will be looking to pull together a strong performance this weekend.

Knockhill Events Director Stuart Gray commented:

“We are all looking forward to another exhilarating weekend of Scottish and Club bike racing.

“With 12 races scheduled for Saturday and another 18 on Sunday, there is plenty of opportunity for fans to see some great action throughout the weekend.”

As an added bonus, World renowned stunt performer Kevin Carmichael will be on hand during Sunday’s lunch break to showcase his unique stunt riding skills for assembled fans!
