MacFadyen rolls back the years to take Superbike pole

With reverse direction racing just a few moments away, old timer, Donald MacFadyen rolled back the years to take Superbike pole for the opening race later today.

MacFadyen, remarkably, had never sampled the reverse track before today, apart from a previous outing in the early 90s. MacFadyen who sits third in the Knockhill Club standings, posted a time of 53.899 seconds to take the P1 grid slot.

Scottish Championship leader Andrew Tasker came over the line in second position with Kirkcaldy’s Roy Houston in third. Defending Scottish Champion, Bruce Birnie could only manage the 7th quickest time, with Torquil Paterson in 5th.

In the Scottish Superstock 600 class, our tip, Greg Gilfillan could only manage the 7th quickest time with Callum Paterson claiming pole in a time of 57.133 seconds. Paterson will have current Scottish Championship leader, Bryan Duncanson alongside him on the front row. National competitor, John Dean lines up in third position with Sean Cooper and Jon Frost taking 4th and 5th respectively.

Cathal Laverty had posted the 3rd quickest time of the session before a problem with his bike forced him to retire. Galling enough when you make the journey to a circuit, only for your machinery to let you down before the racing begins. What’s worse, Laverty travels to Knockhill from Ireland and the same thing happened last time out. Hopefully Laverty’s fellow riders will come to his aid and help the young Irishman at least salvage some track time from his weekend.

We’ll have a couple of races before we break for lunch then the action will continue through to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and remember all the action will be on the Reverse Circuit.
