British Rallycross slides into Knockhill

On Sunday 18th September, Knockhill Racing Circuit will play host to the 6th Round of the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship. The series comes with a number of its key championship classes finely balanced. Several Scotsmen are in contention for the 2011 titles including Dumfries racer Andy Scott in the Supercar class.

Scott, who currently occupies 3rd place will be looking for a strong performance at his home track.

“I’m looking forward to the Knockhill round, I’ve won a couple of rounds so far this year and would love to add a victory at Knockhill to my list.

“The Rallycross track is superb, it has just the right mix of tarmac and off-road sections, it always provides some close and exciting racing,” said Scott.

English duo, Julian Godfrey and David Binks hold 1st and 2nd places respectively. Both will be looking to further consolidate their championship credentials at Knockhill. Binks in-particular, will be looking forward to Knockhill as he has recently switched from a highly competitive Ford Fiesta VI Supercar to a new MkVII version. The new car will be run by Swedish outfit OMSE, Ford’s official Rallycross team.

Alongside the Supercars, there will be a full programme of supporting classes at Knockhill with Aberdeen pair Dave and Ryan Weston looking to score some championship points in the Suzuki Swift classes. Weston Senior competes in the Swift Sport Championship and his son, Ryan competes in the junior equivalent.

There will also be action from RX150 off-road buggies, Hot Hatch, Super Nationals and Mini Cooper classes. Tickets for the event are priced as follows:

Admission £15, Concessions £8, accompanied children under 12years go free!

Knockhill Events Director, Stuart Gray commented:

“This is a fabulous form of motor sport, the races are quick, exciting and the racing is always bumper-to-bumper. We’re delighted that the British Rallycross Championship have again chosen to come to Knockhill this year.
