Knockhill Motor Sports Club to run its first car race meeting

Knockhill Motor Sports Club are delighted to announce that they will be holding their first ever car meeting on Sunday 30th October 2011 at Knockhill.

Formed three years ago and licensed by both the MSA and ACU to run both car and bike events. The Club have already run three very successful televised bike meetings so far this year. However, the Club have deemed that this is the appropriate time for a car racing event to run under the KMSC banner.

Club Chairman Stuart Gray said: “There has been no reason to activate the car side of the club, until now. The SMRC will continue to run their successful championship days at Knockhill, but after a recent meeting between the Circuit and the Scottish Motor Racing Club, it has been decided that the KMSC would take over the popular SpeedFair event next summer. In order for us to do this, the KMSC must hold a Trophy meeting to satisfy the requirements of the governing body this year, hence the October 30th event”

Racers competing in the popular Legends, Scottish Classics, Minis and XR2s/ STs will get a qualifying and 2 race package for only £150, including Club Membership for 2011 and 2012.

The Committee of the Knockhill Club are committed to providing a true and fitting finale to the 2011 season.

“The racers in Scotland are amongst the best Club racers in the UK. As witnessed recently, when both the Classics and Minis took part in the prestigious BTCC event; arguably providing the best racing action on the programme.

“We want to carry on the new and dynamic racing formats the Club have initiated this year. We’d also like to build on the friendly atmosphere delivered at the bike meetings, which has seen entry levels go beyond what we had in 2010. Our aim is to deliver a similar event for car racers as the Club currently provides for bike racers,” continued Stuart.
